F-type 2014 navigator's map blacked out
Hi
I am in France in Paris and I bought a Jaguar F-TYPE R of 2014 which comes from the USA and I bought a USB key with the transformation of the card USA towards Europe.
All the installation went well but after the restart the GPS works with voice but I have a screen without map.
I've tried everything by disconnecting the battery for a whole night but I can't find the map.
Do you have a solution to help me?
I called Jaguar in France but they don't know how to help me.
However, I have seen on the Jaguar forum that several people have encountered this problem following updates or VAPs.
Thanks for your help
Patrick

I thought so ......
When you mentioned VAP, the software upgrade tuning business came to mind immediately but I wanted to confirm instead of guessing.
So are you saying the VAP tune messed up your car's electronics and or the software.
Please share your thoughts for us.
Thank you very much

I'm hoping the USB you mentioned is one for European maps. If not, that's what you need. On a MY14, the USB needs to be coded for your VIN number (otherwise, everyone could update their map from a single USB). The map update on older models takes several hours to load with the car running. From memory, I think it takes about 3 hours. (Ironically, it works best if you are taking a long trip, but you know where you're going, so you don't need the Nav.)
If all that is set, I would have suggested a hard shutdown (engine off, lock, wait a couple of hours), but I think your overnight disconnect should have covered that.
Last suggestion would be to check the video cable that runs from the head unit at the rear of the center console to the touchscreen.

Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
I did buy a USB key that converts the US GPS to the European version.
In the end, after 3 hours of driving without stopping the engine, all the loading went well and I entered a code that was provided by the seller of the update according to my VIN.
But then I had to restart the car and the GPS found my city and location, but when I entered a destination, the voice worked but I didn't have a map.

Black out gps jaguar f-type 2014
Hi
I have never done a VAP on my car but in the forum several people have lost the GPS map either like me after a map update or after having done VAP modifications on their F-TYPE so I was asking if people have managed to find the GPS map and if so how did they do it.
I haven't found any solution yet.

Thank you Patrick .....
Good to know that doing an ECU engine software update can possibly cause other software/electronic related problems. Something to seriously consider before pulling the trigger on an aftermarket ECU software upgrade. Thanks again !
I'm surprised VAP never addressed this issue.

Hi Thunder Dump
Hello
It's in your forum that some people talk about electronic or card or radio problems after using the VAP or after a card update.
I haven't done it, but I'm asking everyone if they've encountered any problems after a GPS map update or VAP loading, and above all if and how they were able to solve them.
I've never said that using the VAP could upset the car or the electronics.
Let there be no misinterpretation.

Applying a tune via the OBDII port to the ECU/TCU, which does not touch the telematics/infotainment system at all, and updating a "card" (assuming you mean SIM card) which directly interfaces with the telematics/infotainment system are two very different things. I've never seen any reference to the former, but I've seen plenty of people reporting some type of connectivity or mapping issues when replacing a SIM or updating the infotainment software.
