When I ordered my F Type two years ago the upgrade for the Meridian Surround System was $870 USD. It included more speakers, more power and the surround sound software. It seemed like a lot of money at the time but then again what JLR was charging for options like a HomeLink garage door opener that is standard on a lot of $35,000 cars these days indicated to me that they were padding the prices on the options for additional profit. Anyway, when I was putting together the build on my car I was already spending more than what my first house cost so I just said what the hell and checked the box for the upgrade.

 

At least ya had the option, which is not currently the case...Just recently confirmed for sure by a dealer for me by checking directly with Jag headquarters etc

 

They're trying to confuse us (again ?).

The 75 base car has R-Dynamic BUT is only RWD. Previously the base car was RWD and the R-Dynamic was AWD.

 

BTW, I'm seeing some NEW '23s claiming MSRP ~84K and a price of ~77K reflecting a 7K discount.

Haven't called any of them yet but anybody have any idea if this is now a real thing ?

Have F-Types been selling new for sticker during Covid ? OVER sticker ?

I guess it must have been different in the US, as the UK R-Dynamic spec was definitely RWD as standard, with AWD a cost option. I don't know about earlier years, but I know this has been the case over here in the UK since at least late 2019 for the V6 models and from 2020 onwards (UK MY21 cars) on the P450.

Just to maybe confuse things even more

 

Let's see if I've got the more recent version correct.

The "R-Dynamic" tag & upgrade bits were applied as an upgrade to the 380hp 6 cyl (other 6s too ?). Don't think there was any R-Dynamic "R" as all the elements of the R-Dyn were already ON the "R". Never once looked at the 4 banger so there I have no idea.

2021 changed the body style and introduced the digital dash but kept the 6 cyl and naming convention. And the only V8 was the "R" - again no need for R-Dyn.

2022 and the F-Type went "all 8". No more 6s or 4s. So the base was simply F-Type w/RWD, 1 up was F-Type R-Dynamic with the dynamic bits AND AWD, then came the "R".

2023(4?) and now the base is F-Type 75 R-Dynamic RWD w/444hp, 1 up is F-Type 75 AWD w/444hp, and then there's the "R" w/575hp.

 

I picked up my 2023R in May 2022.

 

Yes, it’s worth noting that the model year is different between the UK (and Europe?) and the US. In the US, the MY starts the previous spring. (My MY14 was the first model year, and delivered June ‘13. It would be a MY13 in the UK. I think Australia also uses the UK system, with the model year closer to the calendar year.

Er, not sure you're right about them being different, my UK MY18 was built in March 2017. The definitive answer is in the 10th digit of the VIN: G - MY16, H - MY - 17, J - MY18, etc.

 

Got to be some difference.

If you look at some youtube videos of the "new 2020 F-Type", you will see British reviewers and cars that show the newer body.

 

Maybe the reviewers don't understand Jaguar's MY policy! You need the VIN for a definitive answer.

 

Probably because that car launched in 2020 and reviewers not versed in Jaguar's nomenclature will likely state it simply as the year the car was launched (In line with scm's post). Some reviewers will state both, explaining why.

Generally speaking, for the UK at least, if you order your car in 2023 then you will most likely get an MY24 model car. If you buy a car registered in 2023 then it all depends on when the car rolled off the production line and, as scm states, it will come down to the VIN to tell you whether you got an MY23 or an MY24 car. I tried to place an order in late November for a P380 but Jaguar dealers over here stopped taking orders the day before in preparation for the launch of the 2020 (MY21) facelifted version. I ordered mine in early December 2019 and picked it up mid-March 2020, receiving an MY21 car.

I have no reason to doubt you but afaik, here in the States, the front end clearly deliniates the 2020 models from the 2021 models.

When a manufacturer debuts a new year's model is up to them and they can call it what they like. For many years American manufacturers introduced the new model year car in Sept (for the next year of course) and the Euro and Japanese introduced them in January of the same year.

Nowadays, pretty much everybody calls 'em and introduces 'em any time they like.
