I wonder why this F-Type could not even meet reserve. Here’s a clean, well-optioned, low mileage (10K) car with some warranty left, originally selling for $98K, now for sale, asking price $48K. Perhaps Hemmings was not the best auction site as they market mostly older cars? The seller is the third owner - did that scare off buyers? Or, is this just an example of the high depreciation of these cars?

I recently got a trade-in estimate for my 2021 380P vert. with 20K miles and 2 years remaining warranty
It was about $55K which I though was reasonable.
I can easily see that the older P400 vehicle with no warranty would not be worth $48K.
Also, I think that people shopping auctions tend to look for better than average prices.

*Not anytime soon.
@DJS even has the equipment to facilitate it.

There are actually two 2018 P380's on the JLR website for similar ask prices to the auction vehicle.
You have to figure that a dealer price is usually higher than a private sale, and that is before you haggle with the dealer.
Also, most dealer sales come with at least a minimal warranty.
As mentioned previously, 3 owners in 5 years with 10K miles is also a little odd.
I think the auction ask was too high. The seller may need to revise their expectation.

I’ve noticed that too. Then again and for a fair amount of forum members here, there are many who “plan” to never sell their F-Types it really makes no difference. Our “plan” is to bury @Unhingd along with his heavily modified BRG demon. *

You’ve come to the right place.
Naturally THAT was my EXACT initial thought. However, it’s a bit too obvious. I can do better than that. Fortunately I have plenty of time. (Nice to hear from you Steve).

For most auctions and sales, Hemmings adds 5% to the agreed price. So in this case, the seller gets $44,000 and Hemmings gets $2,200. So the buyer writes two checks totaling $46,200.
If the car is as presented, it still looks like a good buy to me.
Of course, the buyer now has to get it home…
