I would first check to see if one side is not latched then apply pressure there to close.
Perhaps once both sides are latched it will unlatch.
I did have something similar once.
Still trying to work out best way to close the bonnet.
The manual seems to indicate pushing evenly on the front with hands about 2 ft up and about 3 ft apart in the center.
That takes quite a bit of pushing.
I have also closed it by pulling down hard from the center back.
All seems a bit cloogy, especially given the relative flexibility of the aluminum!!
Plus pushing on the front center leaves hand marks on the paint finish.

I use a drying towel when I close mine, since I only open it when I've washed the car (gotta clean under the hood!).

I was surpised to see how much water spray gets under the hood when you wash the car.
Mine has never been out in the rain (yet) but I did need to clean (dirty) watermarks from under the hood.

thanks for the reply,

i know what you are saying only my problem is a bit different.

when i pull the lever to open the bonnet it pops (on both sides)

but only the left side is loose the right side seems loose only it isn't (some kind of windhook) it moves a little bit but not all the way

so i am clueless tried pulling the cable more with a plier but didn't work either

Try having someone push DOWN on that side right over where the catch is (the one that won't unlatch), while you pull the release. If it is bound, that will free it.

I know it won't help the OP but I have found the easiest and best way to close my bonnet/hood is to simply let it drop from about 45 cm / 20". No pushing, no marks, perfectly latched both sides every time no fuss no muss.

Ours drops fairly easily (latches are well-lubricated), but at a recent Jaguar meet a new F was on display. OF COURSE I wanted to look under the bonnet.

BOY, that new-car bonnet was difficult to close. I needed to give it quite a bit of 'momentum' to fully latch. If I had needed a third try, I would have climbed onto it in desperation.

When new, my bonnet needed a lot of help to get it down and latched. After a few dozen cycles, it could just be dropped to close properly.

I will get JLR to take a look when my car goes in.
I think the issue is more related to the hydraulic struts being hard to compress.

I had the exact opposite experience at a dealership recently. The parts person at the dealership and I were searching for other new F-Types at the dealership to compare to mine as we were searching for a part.

I opened the hood on a 2021 P300 on the showroom floor. The hood opened really easily and when I closed it I slammed it a bit as it closed with very little effort. Mine takes a little bit of a shove to close. I suspect the new one may have had different struts on the hood than mine.

Hello John,

Did you manage to sort this? The same thing has happened to me.

You do close it from the front pushing the hood/bonnet towards the windscreen? A bit weird the first time, but it does ensure it closes evenly. I think there's a picture in the handbook.
