Default is f-type coupe the cheapest way to get into the exotic car club?

Hello, is f-type coupe the cheapest way to get into the exotic car club?

Corvette is a legit car but I think it lacks the elegance and pinache to be an exotic.

The 911 is pretty boring looking these days which may disqualify it as an exotic but I think the 911 looks somewhat exotic with a ruf package. Guessing the cost with ruf package is north of $100k.

bmw m4 is a "nice german sports coupe" but I wouldn't consider it exotic. and no one takes lotus elise seriously - they're just too tiny.

I believe you are on the right track with your reasoning. Jaguars are considered, at the least, semi-exotics but, by many they would count as full blooded exotics. Vettes are great and are super performance values but, hardly exotics. So are the Porsches. One of the requirements for being considered to be "exotic" is low production numbers where people simply do not get to see them on the streets in large numbers. Thus, when they do get to see one, they evoke that "wow" factor. Most Jag models, including the large XJL sedans, XKR, F-type etc... meet that criteria.

I would throw a Lotus Evora S in the midst as well.

true. rareness is a factor. with 911's it's like - oh, there's another 911 (at least in seattle).

If you are looking to buy new then the Jag and the new Maserati are great options for that more exotic feel. If you don't mind used then you can buy much cheaper and get Aston, Ferrari etc... But, don't just buy something to get status! Buy something because you love the car.

I previously owned two Lotus cars and an Aston Martin. When looking to get a new sports car, I test drove Ferrari, Bentley and Lambo to stay in what most people consider exotic cars. I was not even considering Jag. After test driving an Aston Martin DB9 the salesman said try this car and walks me to an F-Type. That is all she wrote! The F-Type was a no brainer. The Jag won hands down!

Get back on topic! Most people I know think I "down graded" my status with a Jag over my Aston and my Lotus. If I cared about status I would have got the Ferrari.

My car just had its 1 year service done. I still walk to get in my car with a smile on my face. I get out from driving it with a huge grin on my face. I could not be more happy I got the Jag!

Test drive and buy the car that gives you that wow feeling what ever it might be! If you buy something just for status you will end up hating the car and you will not have a good experience.
