Default F-type Coupe V6S vs Porsche Carrera 4S vs Aston Martin DB9

My thoughts after extensive driving (around 3 full days each car) of a 2014 911 Carrera 4s, 2015 F-type Coupe V6S (mind, not R!) and 2009 AM DB9 Volante

The Carrera 4s feels a lot heavier than both the Aston and the Jag. But it is actually faster when you floor it. It is the least appealing in terms of looks compared to both the AM and the Jag. On track you will surely get faster times with the 4s and the awd traction will shine especially when it is wet outside. It also has the best sound at idle RPM.

The AM feels exclusive even if it is much older than the 911 and the Jag. I have never seen a production car with a nicer looking dashboard. It is absolutely amazing. In terms of driving, if you are not pushing the cars to the extreme you cannot feel a difference between it and the 911 but if you push the cars harder you will notice the better response of the 911. Best sound when turning on the engine. And because it is the only convertible car of the lot, it has the upper hand in terms of driving at low speeds. But it is way too noisy when driving above 100 km/h.

The F-type V6S is clearly much more fun to drive. If you want drama you will get it with this one. It is fast enough, and driving sound is much nicer than both the Carrera 4s and the AM DB9 Volante. It is as fast as the AM (which is a V12). Sometimes you will prefer to drive a rear traction car instead of the AWD of the 911 4s as it is really enjoyable to control a drift in your Jag. No comparison with the 911 in terms of exterior and interior looks, the Jag looks much better, it is so cool and modern yet different from all the other cars currently on production. Except for the AM, which has a lot of common design elements with the F-type. The AM is very hip but it looks a bit older. And the overall build quality feels lower than the F-type. Maybe because it is older? I think so.

All in one:

track car: 911 Carrera 4s
brand prestige: Aston Martin for sure
my choice overall: F-type Coupe hands down

Thanks for the comparison. Sounds like a nice day (or several days) of driving!

The DB9 is another level. It's a $200k car, right? 2x the price of the Jag and Porsche, right?

First hand experience. I have driven both the DBV and the DB9 for extensive amounts of time. They are maybe another level. A lower level.
When I have decided to get the F-type I had already driven the dealer F-type demo car (which was base V6) and after, back to back, the DBV. I had a clear winner with the F-type that day.

The F-type is a few years ahead in technology and the driving experience is also much better in an F-type. V6S even! Can't imagine the difference for a R but should be even better for sure. Do not judge this by brand prestige.

The Porsche was almost the same in price as the DB9. Only the Jag was about 30% cheaper. Here in Europe. But I would not exchange my car with any of the other two. I had proposals by the way Only if I could sell it better than the F-type and get another F-type and make more money in the process I'd do that.

Default F-Type thrills

I've lost 37 pounds and thought I'd try the physical fit of the F-Type again. I'm still too large for the car, but it is fast, the exhaust note is to actually die for, and its agility in traffic is nimble to the 5th power. It really feels like you are wearing it! I seldom wish I was not my 6'-4" height but this is one of those times. Just thought I would throw that in.
