F-Type Gets A Manual Tranny!

I have driven manual cars, prefer automatic a lot more, especially when it's a ZF - such an engaging gearbox. Unless you live in a place with a small population, manuals can get tiring very quick.
Snide, are you sure it's not an older article that was just integrated into the publication?
Both Motortrend and CarAndDriver have been saying "F type will be offered with a manual tranny" since 2012. Not quite sure if I believe them, but they may be right.

Learned to drive in a stick and had manuals all my driving life. My 911s were with a manual transmission, and while Porsche fits a good manual box to their cars, I would have gone PDK had I decided on another 911. The ZF box in the F Type really is a great transmission - it is very well programmed and calibrated, working very well in full automatic or manual mode. I've not missed the manual transmission at all. The ZF box is responsive, sporty and won't money shift. I really like it. Were the F Type to get a manual, I'd love to take a drive in one but for now I think this car and the ZF work really well together and that's the combination I'd want.

The speed of shifting is meaningless to most people and unless you "seriously" track the car there really is no advantage of a dual clutch or automatic over manual. That just being said, if you have a nice manual that shifts precise and easily like in an Audi f.e. it is just a joy to have and absolutely unnoticeable in traffic, unless of course you learned and passed your drivers exam on a slush box. If you have an older Porsche manual, yes I can agree it can get tiresome and a lot of stop and go traffic can cause your calves to cramp and shake ... but come on who buys a sports car for a daily driver and stands in traffic ... and if so then go ahead and order the auto box.
What angers me and leaves me wanting, as the XKR-S is my first personally purchased car with an auto box, is the missing blipping of the throttle which makes the driving experience a complete mechanical, clinical experience. Rolling into a C&C, finding a spot, coming to a stop, reverse to back into parking spot without blipping the throttle while rolling or shifting into reverse makes me feel completely removed from me being in control. At least Porsche gave you the option to pull both shift levers to "clutch" the transmission so you still can blip it.
As for the manual being an option I have yet to find a hint on which engines will get it. I "heard" the 4 banger will not come to the US, the 4 banger would make sense with a manual to make it feel more sporty. The same for the AWD, so far Jag only has it in the 6, not the 8. The 8 with AWD and launch control would be very interesting as the electronics just cut so much power when the wheels start to slip.
Nowhere have I found yet that AWD and/or manual would be an offering for the 8 cylinder engines at all, just general announcement.
The odd thing is that the faster shifting of dual clutches has not produced faster 0-60 times, only the addition of launch control actually surpassed the acceleration of a manual. The dual clutch is of course measurably faster in regards to down shifts under hard breaking before turn in.

Are you talking about just Jaguar or other brands in general?
Mercedes offers the E63AMG and the CLS E63 AMG in 4 matic form. Those are V8s, which i am sure you are aware of.
