Default F Type Luggage Option from UK

I am a recent purchaser of the new F Type convertible edition. I was looking for luggage options for my car and came across a company out of the UK that makes a custom 2 piece set in an array of colors. They are not cheap by any means but certainly do the job. I will try and include a few pics of my set in Blue delivered to me here in TN. The company is HillsAliveUK. Hope this helps.

Do you find that the luggage has respectable capacity for a weekend trip for two?

That looks great! I just bought the Jaguar 5 piece luggage set from a UK vendor. Hasn't turned up yet, so I can't provide any feedback, but sets like yours and the one I've ordered should help to make the most of what trunk space we have.

Jaguar are marketing a 5 Piece Luggage set for the F-Type at around the same cost.

It all comes down to personal taste but I prefer the plain set you have chosen to the Jaguar set covered in F-Type badges.

One thing you can be sure with the Jaguar product is that it will be quality. I'll be interested to read your impressions of the alternative when it arrives.

The luggage set will work for the weekend trip for two. You still a little space in the trunk to place footwear or very small bags. Overall Im very satisfied with the set. I only wish I could have found someone in the US to purchase it from. The cost is the question. Paid over $700 for the bags. The quality is top notch though.

That is helpful, thank you. I checked out the Jaguar set linked above, but they will not ship to the US (I suppose the parts department at my dealer might be able to obtain it.)

I ordered mine from a supplier in the UK.

With shipping to the US, the total was just under $670. They sold the set for quite a bit less than the GBP 555 that Jaguar suggest.

Im seriously considering this... can you tell me if the rollers are 2 wheel or 4 wheel? Im hoping they have the "any direction" 4 wheel base.

Haven't received them yet so don't know, but I'll be happy to post back with pics when I do.

Just a quick update, the UK supplier I used reached out to say that shipping was going to be a bit more than they had expected (due to the size of the package, not the weight). I was OK to pay the extra. Still works out much less than the UK MSRP even with shipping.

We can also supply this luggage set. Currently awaiting dimensions of the items to calculate shipping but they would be shipped from New Hampshire so obviously less than shipping form the UK. JF member price is $650.00 + shipping and no import duties!

I use Rimmer Bros all the time for parts for my Triumph Stag. Despite the cost, their shipping is magical: stuff has shown up faster from the UK than from Amazon warehouses in the US.

You know know what - you seem to be absolutely right. My order shipped from the UK today, and according to UPS it's scheduled for delivery here in California on Thursday.

Chris,

Do you get hit with US Customs/Import Duty on parts like this from the UK?

We often get a £36 ($60) 'inspection' fee and additional duty payable on anything valued over £25 ($41) on parcels from the US. Our Customs are tightening up on packages marked as 'gift'.

Did the 5 pieces all fit in the trunk? From the picture it seems impossible

Yes Graham, for sure - I've never quite figured out what qualifies and what does not. I just quietly pay the bills as they land... :-) Not paying is contra-indicated, as they say.

The biggest problem I have had was with a set of crankshaft bearing shells. They got stuck at Customs for quite a while, as apparently there was a trade dispute with Israel on at the time, and Customs thought they might be Israeli machine tool bearings. To be fair, they were just described on the bill of lading as "bearings". I had to fill in a bunch of forms, get it all certified as non-Israeli product, complete with a signed letter of country of origin. And then I got a big bill for the additional Customs hold time, UPS storage, and processing work, as well as the duty. It all worked out in the end, but those crank shells easily cost me ten times their value... That was very much the exception, and Rimmers were very helpful in getting the letter of origin and certification.

My set (the Jaguar luggage set) just got delivered. Haven't seen it yet and don't know if I have a bill for any import taxes but will report back later.

quick update. The "official" Jaguar luggage set is pretty cool. Quality seems to be pretty good too, but the UK VAT-inclusive MSRP of GBP 555 is perhaps a little optimistic. I paid about GBP 350 (with no VAT but before shipping) which seems to me to be fair for the set. I do like them - will be using them for a road trip with my wife this weekend.

spinningbull - the roller cases are two wheeled. Would have been nice if they were four wheeled as you say, but they just have the two.

Only cost incurred at delivery was a $21 "brokerage" fee from UPS.

Overall I think they are pretty good and I'm happy with them.
