Default F-type manual

Well, I'm drooling waiting for the manual box. Question will be standard F-type or the F-type S?? Is the 40 bhp worth the difference? Can't wait to find out!

Welcome to the forum drbill

When you get a moment stop by our new members area and introduce yourself.

So I take it you're waiting to test drive both before making a decision? There's more to it than just 40hp...

I will stop by new member area....
I've driven both versions of the auto and difficult to tell the difference in normal city driving. I'm currently Jag-less for the first time in over 20 years. I've had an E-type, 3 series 3 saloons, an XJ12-C, 2 XJ-S's, an XKR, 2 XJR's, a Series 1 XJ-12. I've been waiting for jag to come out with a real sports car with a manual box. Can't wait to drive them.

Drbill, I had the same dilemma and wanted a V6S coupe with the manual. After having driven the automatic, which was pretty impressive, I started to wonder whether I should consider the automatic. When my wife drove one and said, I want an automatic, I replied, "If we get the automatic, I want the V8." She said fine so we now own an R. What a fantastic and fun car.

Welcome drbill. If you are merely looking at the extra 40hp, the answer is no. For about $1000 you can buy a tune (the only difference between the two engines) that will get you even more than than the 40 horses. You have to look at all the other additional features you get with the S to determine which way you want to go. The differences are spelled out in great detail in the following thread:Difference between Base and V6
