F Type Offfical Performance Figures a Bit Conservative
The official F Type performance figures for 0-60 and the quarter mile times may be a bit on the conservative. Officially, the V8 F Type can go 0-60 in 4.2 seconds and 12.2 in the quarter mile. However, C&D managed a 0-60 in 3.6 seconds and a quarter mile time of 11.9 seconds. This kind of matches with some anecdotal information from a friend of mine that tested one at a recent Jaguar public event. His daughter did a 0-60 in 3.8 seconds while the professional Jaguar driver there did it in 3.3 seconds. These were instrumented times as far as he knew, not stopwatch times. At any rate, the V8S is proper quick.

Car and Driver has been reporting faster acceleration times and/or top speeds for decades. It all began in '64 with their notorious and controversial Pontiac GTO road test.
I'm not saying they're wrong or inaccurate. The C&D road testers must simply be more determined to wring out every last ounce of performance
Cheers

I know, I've dragged plenty of cars plenty of times on everything from tracks prepped for sub-seven second tracks to unprepped tracks. It's just that 3.3 seconds seems unlikely to me based on the car's power level and weight and my assumption that the run was on the factory tires.
Believe me, I'm not knocking the car (I've got one on order) and it felt quicker to me when I test drove one than the numbers Jaguar put out. I'm just not quite sure 3.3 sec is accurate when a Gen V Viper with 640HP and 600Lb-Ft is doing it in 3.4 and 3.3 sec is SO much faster than Jaguar's official claim of 4.2 sec.

Lots of manufacturers tend to do that. BMW being at the top of the chart.
Here is the report.... http://media.caranddriver.com/files/...gray-specs.pdf
Also, you have to remember the engineering going into the F type is far more superior than that of the Viper.

The delta between Jag's listed 2010 XKR 0-60 and the number C&D got was a full .6 seconds.

Agree on all count's above it's just that I can't help but be skeptical about a greater than 20% gain in 0-60 from the manufacturer's claim to the C&D test number. Believe me, I'm stoked about that number being true and it tells me this car could be ridiculous with a reflash. I'm dying to get mine but the dealer's telling me it won't be built and here until November.
Has any owner taken their F-type to the drag strip yet?

base price - $92,000
70-0mph braking - 151 ft
0-60mph - 3.6 sec
1/4 mile - 11.9 sec
skidpad - 0.92g
Boxter S (PDK)
base price - $66,250
70-0mph braking - 142 ft
0-60mph - 4.2 sec
1/4 mile - 12.7 sec
skidpad - 1.0g
911 Carrera S Cabriolet
base price - $110,800
70-0mph braking - 149 ft
0-60mph - 4.3 sec
1/4 mile - 12.7 sec
skidpad - 1.03g
two of these seem to be much more comparable.

Very much enjoyed the vid. Thanks SoCal Dave. I don't think anyone who has driven this car thinks the manufacturer's performance stats are accurate. I'm inclined to believe the 0-60 is 3.4 sec (with optimal conditions). Every bit as strong as my previous Z06 Vette.
