Sounds like the car is starting you in 2nd, its supposed to unless you chose 1st and then when you accelerate hard it kicks you down into 1st.
Its definately not a rev limiter as others have said, why would you have a rev limiter at 4k lol
Dont know mate ask jaguar not the bar room lawyers on here as it was jaguar who fitted a 4000 rev limiter to your car Forums can be handy for picking up on "How to Fix " but other than that full of old guys who have nothing better to do than talk Shi'ite

Just out of interest George, what is the redline on your car and have you ever hit it?
Or do you never exceed 4,000 rpm?

Interesting that the dyno results that Stuart just posted in the VAP thread show the torque has a bit of a hitch at 4700RPM with the OEM tune on an R.

I did hit it mate, A few times while testing out the maps on the race chip i installed while testing. and now it makes sense as at the time i could not understand why the car was cutting out. a long time now Kim but on reflection it must have been at the 4000 rev mark, from stand still . floor the pedal , keep foot on gas pedal it will kick in. also their is a "smell" that smell is your clutch fly wheel trying to catch up read the ling on my post above i have noticed that "smell from other jags xkr, and ftypes i have raced against and not from a starting stop but a rolling stop on the M/ways from above 50mph also it emits from mercs, bmws and audis, audi has well know gear box problems across their range made of chocolate a specialist told me . try it for your self go on the free way then gun it big time the "smell . will follow . i try to offer good advice up to others if they listen i dont come on much nor take part in shyte talk about how the f... trump or the states are doing or mother england

Not certain I understand what George05 is talking about. The OEM rev limit on my car was 6800 rpm. (Yes, 4000 rpm when the car was not moving). My rev limit is now set at 7200 and the stationary rev limit no longer exists.
I hardly ever shift below 4000 rpm unless I’m already at target speed.

Not sure what you mean about scm being chased out of the uk forum, he's on it and someone who is very knowlegeable.
Now you george05 are not, you say you dont come on here much a, because you dont like the f type and you think its like an xe inside lol
b, because you think people talk ***** unlike you who hasn't got a friggin clue what your on about.
I was out in my f type today, floored it from standstill and from rolling and no limiter at 4k as you reckon, because there isn't one, why would jag put a limiter at 4k lol
Also you slagging other members on here who are very knowlegeable and the way you come across makes you look like a right dick, if you dont like coming on here and what people say then dont bother.
Peace out.

Sorry moderators but someone had to say something

Oh georgey georgey, think you need to re-read your link mate before you keep on calling people out and calling them liers.
Read the first sentence where it says about uncoupling the transmission lol
Your apology will be excepted by everyone who you dissed, takes a bigger man to admit they were wrong

When a driver discharges the engine of that burden by uncoupling it from transmission, that flywheel is free to spin into the stratosphere. An engine can't handle that, it has an entire life ahead and it can't afford to throw a rod for one sonorous moment of glory. That's why your Jaguar is boring. Just to add a point to its reliability score, the rev limiter cuts in at a lower speeds, around 4,000 rpm, to ensure that the unbound flywheel doesn't spin past the engine's limits. It's a lesson that the Jeremy Clarksons of the world will learn in one humiliating moment in traffic. Everyone is watching, waiting, listening. Then the half-assed attempt comes through and the crowd cringes. This is a note to those types of drivers, but don't let its stop you from finding out yourself.
