F-Type reliability out of warranty?
Hello all! I'm seriously looking at picking up a beautiful V8 S but I'm a bit worried since it's out of warranty...
Is this worry warranted? I've seen some people having issues with Jaguars and having them in for repairs often and it is having me consider a Boxster instead. I am coming from a 2008 987 Cayman S and I only had 1 repair in 4 years. I would be DDing this car, never tracking it. Any comments or advice? I'm not familiar with Jaguars prices, warranties, or even reliability. Hope to get some advice from the pros!

Your local dealer will sell you a warrenty after a £400 jaguar inspection I was quoted £800 for the year + inspection.
did not think I would need it as covered under 3rd party dealer warrenty (now discovered not worth the paper it is printed on)
4 years old 15k miles 8 weeks ownership
Now looking at a 4-5k bill for fix of soft top (that’s GBP)
so yes get a Jaguar warrenty!

In the UK the warranty on earlier models was limited to three years.
My F Type R warranty expired at tge end of March 2018.
I considered an extended warranty, but even if bought via Jaguar.co.uk it was a third party warranty .
I decided not to buy coverage in the end.
Having been on this and other Jaguar owners fora I came to the conclusion that it's a reasonably reliable car.
My car has covered 26000 miles from new,, with 17000 of those driven by myself in the last ten months, the only warranty repair needed was a sat nav antenna replacement.

Earliest Jaguar I owned was a '60 Mk II in 1973, from which owner I learned many things about caring for them. Most importantly for you is that Lucas (the inventor of darkness) is no longer in the picture. Reliability increased in the Ford Ownership era, after 1988, as I recall. My Stype had 156k miles when I sold it to a pal, who drove it to/from Canada through 200k miles.
