Question F Type S 2014 Clunking from Centre consol

Hi,

Just bought a new car. Well used but new to me. 2014 F Type Model S. Every now and again I hear a clunk noise from the centre console. Its spirradic and only hear it when pulling away or turning at low speeds. Its so intermitent so I cant record it really. - bugging me that much that i have the music on constantly just in case i hear it ha ha .
Any help much appreciated.

Welcome to the forums 6036Craig,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to F-Type forum. This is the place to post questions about your model.

It might be excessive lash in the differential gears. The noise will travel up the transmission tunnel. This is a known issue with F-Types.

Doesn’t this also describe the symptoms of a loose fastener on one of the cross braces?

Could be a number of things, all of which need to be checked out. Fortunately, of the possible issues mentioned so far, only the diff issue is problematic. The other two issues can be resolved in a matter of minutes.

Cross braces on engine. I think it's a T50 fitting

I checked mine, the larger braces with 1 exposed t50 torx on each side and smaller brace with two t50s all seem tight. Although I only felt it with my hand and try to see if I can wiggle the braces.

Use a real wrench. They can feel tight by hand but still be allowing joint slippage.
