And the driving noise hasn't changed at all. I suspect the later years were more noise reg. compliant from the factory.

I have owned a 14' v8-s, now a 16' R, and also spent extensive times in the 2020+ v8 cars, I can attest that the 14-15 cars are the loudest, then the pops get a bit muted and less in durations with the 16-19, the 20 and up are the most quiet. If you have never owned a 19' or earlier models, you will think that the 20+ are just as loud. However, for those who have had seat times behind all three software version, the differences are noticeable. To my ears, if the 14-15' are 100% in volumes with the amount of over run pops and their durations, then the 16-19 is 80%, and the 20+ is about 40% of the original.

I don't understand this and no offense but I don't really believe it. I just drove 500 miles to test drive a 2019 SVR and it wouldn't crackle at all. Not even close to the older ones. How can some crackle and some don't?

Coz he has a VAP tune on it (tune only no pulley(s)) and that tune resurrects the snap crackle and pop.

Does this sound like a tune? Cause this is perfect. The one I drove today didn't do any of this.

Did you drive it in Dynamic Mode with Sport/Manual engaged? That is the recipe for the most amount of pops/crackles/overrun. My 2018 could be driven in regular mode and get plenty of it above 3500 RPM, but my 2023 requires Dynamic and Sport/Manual to both be activated in order to get the cackling.
