Default F Type Sport 400 discussion thread

Went to visit a Jag dealer today and while we were talking about the F Type S, the sales guy tells me he got informed that Jag will soon release a limited edition of the 3.0 V6 with 400 instead of 380hp.

Anyone can confirm this?

They should call it a V6U.

Divert immediately to the thread about whether to wait for next model year! Manufacturers need to provide enticements to us easy prey in the car loving world.

How about a limited edition 600 R, but that would bump the SVR.

I'd be interested to see what the torque output will be. The exterior accent will probably involve some lipstick.

Jaguar is probably watching the forums and realizing they are missing out on revenue. So here comes a "special" that will cost $5k extra that is "limited edition" and only requires the yellow accents and software remap. At a cost of almost zero to them as they probably had that map from the developmental phase.

They all do it, so I can't blame Jaguar for adopting the industry tactics. With the growing aftermarket, I would just buy used and then tune/pulley it and save BIG $$.

As far as my source is correct it will have only a few new visual gimmicks and a mild Ecu tune. For the rest it should be the same as the 380hp S.

The only thing I am wondering is that they might maybe use the new navigation unit as right now they are still using the 'old' one.

maybe Stewart at VAP can get the tune out of this to tweak his already great 419hp tune a bit more? The 450ho mark without the lower pulley would be a. Ice flash only option.

This special edition is replacing the S for one year. I wonder what happens in 2019?

Was tempted to order one until I read that it won't be available with MT. What a shame.

I've merged the different threads on this topic, from now on all discussion of the Sport 400 should only be in this thread.

20 hp is not noticeable enough to forego the MT (unless they can get the torque to that same number). An additional 40-70 would have put it at a whole new level.

Hehehe here we go again...

Reading the fine print, it's 400PS, not 400HP. So actually it's rated at 395HP.

Versus the 335HP/340PS/250kW of the regular V6 and 374HP/380PS/276kW V6S

But knowing JLRNA, they will call it 400HP, even if it's not...

Hmm, wonder if those LED headlamps would be interchangeable with the older model cars. I am a headlamp output fanatic. Was about to do some custom work to the current HIDs, but if I can get these then no need.

JLR could get themselves in trouble for advertising 380hp and delivering less than that (which I have confirmed with the baseline dyno @ 367).Jaguar F-TYPE - Coupe & Convertible Models | Jaguar USA

I was mostly thinking about roomier and lighter seats. I am 6'3" and it is tight fit inside.

If you are going to start class-action, please make sure that settlement includes JLR releasing this new "400" tune as factory spec to everyone.
