Default F Type trunk access manually!

So I bought a wrecked F Type Jaguar convertible . It has rear qtr damage only. However, the power trunk does not work. I cannot put the top down because the boot open message appears on the dash. I wanted to open the trunk to diagnose the switch and I cannot open the trunk manually. Does anyone have any ideas how to manually open the trunk ? It is NOT a low battery issue. I feel like it might be binding or the harness is damaged/disconnected. I would appreciate your advice.

Harness looks exposed, hard to tell though the extent of damage, if any at all

Trunk is raised 1/2”

I can't imagine why things aren't working properly. Best of luck on your project.

Need a straight-on view of the rear of the trunk lid to see how much of the latch is exposed in order to provide further advice.

It looks like you’ll need to replace the entire rear of the frame assembly. Given the unique production processes on this car, I am guessing only a jag certified repair shop will be able to handle this, and the cost will be prohibitive. Of course, you might find a fly-by-night body shop that will bang everything back into shape and weld up the cracks. My best wishes to you.

I'm sure you've gotten plenty from her, LOL. Out of curiosity and sincerity, what did you pay for it?

I paid 17k and it has the 3.0. Luckily the rear qtr steel structure is in good shape. It needs a rear qtr skin, rocker and rear bumper cover.

Here is the deal: access

Trunk vent hole

The passenger rear trunk vent. Remove it and gently enlarge the hole with a prybar or piece of wood bending the bottom flange flat. Then stick a skinny arm all the way down to the trunk latch and pull on the emergency escape cord.

There isn't any steel structure, it's all aluminum. The structural beam in the first picture is certainly why the car was written off. It supports the rear bumper. It should be replaced, and that's an expensive proposition. A lot needs to come apart and the new piece(s) are then bonded and riveted in place. I'm not just speculating, as I've been through this.

I'm not sure about the convertible, but on the coupe, the rear quarter goes all the way around the door, so includes at least some of the rocker.

Good luck with the project. I hope you emerge with satisfactory results.
