Default F Type V6S without exhaust switch

My V6S does not have the exhaust switch. So it basically gets loud when I turn it into dynamic mode (my understanding is that dynamic mode enables the exhaust bypass). Which means having the switch is of no use if I'm driving in dynamic model. Have I understood this correctly?

For those of you who do have the switch, does it automatically turn on when in dynamic mode?

Thanks in advance!

I've assumed that with the switch on, the valves are open all the time, not just when you put your foot down when in dynamic mode. I don't know this, but I was following a V8S that was belching and snorting at low speeds, and I assumed that he had switched it on.

Seems about right. I was told at the dealership that in dynamic model the valves ARE open all the time, but I don't notice it being that loud (as it was when I test drove the vehicle). Trying to figure out if I was given incorrect information.

Doesn't seem like they're open all the time. I have to put my foot down for it to make a difference - it starts howling at higher revs, gives a nice single or double pop at the upshift, and continues to howl at lower revs than it did when I put my foot down.

That's what makes me think the valves aren't open all the time with dynamic mode, but without the switchable active exhaust. But I could be wrong.

You can use the switch to turn the the loudness down while in dynamic mode.

I have the V6-S with both the Configurable Dynamic Mode and the Switchable Active Exhaust options. When I turn on Dynamic mode, the button automatically lights up and the active exhaust is 'on'. When I don't have the car in Dynamic mode, the exhaust button enables me to turn the active exhaust on anyway. (Note: this is how it works even if you don't have the Configurable Dynamic Mode option.) Does that clear things up?

By the way, the "Configurable" Dynamic Mode option just allows binary control of various aspects of the car (steering sharpness, suspension tightness, etc.) By binary I mean you can either turn each aspect on or off. It doesn't allow different grades of sharpness or tightness. I don't think it's worth the money (and would not have gotten it but I had to in order to also get the suede cloth interior).
