All-in for all the materials including the battery, $1076. So I've saved roughly 4.9998 bejillion already!

Power steering fluid and reservoir? The filter is integrated with the reservoir.

Should be able to knock that all out in a day or two since you have all the supplies!

Good luck.

Great thread, thanks to all.
Now we need a "Therock88 DYI" thread with all of his awesome PDF's in one place.

It's hiding behind the diff fluid. Oops!

Haha..I was thinking of doing that, and will soon. I Did I on the 997 TT site and seemed to work out great.

Reporting back in, job complete. Had that spark plug concern which I think is definitely a leaking coolant line (but perhaps in the past, I can't find evidence of recent leaks, but still watching):
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...d.php?t=246172

but otherwise things went pretty well and all looks good in there.

A report back on difficulty for those thinking of attempting:
1. Oil and filter change : 1/10 difficulty (with the Mightyvac and proper filter wrench). Perhaps the best engineered oil change on any car I've ever seen.
2. Replacing the brake fluid : 2/10
3. Replacing the spark plugs : 8/10 Pure misery even with all the "right" tools. Jaguar mechanics must have telekinesis.
4. Replacing the supercharger drive belt : 2/10 Quite easy, especially if you loosen and move forward the air intake piping (don't have to fully remove it).
5. Replacing the air filter and the pollen filter : Pollen filter: 1/10. Air filters: 3/10 (wrestling underbody flaps is a little challenging).
6. Replacing the ZF transmission fluid : 5/10 Because it's messy and a little tricky. The plastic drain plug was seized so I had to just pop the seal slowly and catch fluid running out the corners, which didn't help.
7. Replacing the differential fluid : 2/10 with the Mightyvac
8. Replacing supercharger oil : 9/10 will not attempt again.
9. Replacing the battery : 2/10 just because it's heavy
10. Coolant flush : 3/10 it's a lot and disposal is annoying.
11. Rear brake pads : 2/10

12. Front brake pads : 3/10 (but 1/10 once you learn the trick to release the clip - it is NOT what people say on Youtube!)

Hope that encourages / discourages your own DIY ambitions

I would also add... always make sure your oil fill cap is on TIGHT. Loose oil cap creates a vacuum leak that throws off everything, lights up codes on the dash, etc.

Schuss, that's excellent feedback. Thanks! I plan to do more of this when I have a barn with lift. I've only changed the oil and battery myself so far, though I have a pollen filter waiting to be installed.

Pollen filter is 10 minutes, one of the easiest things on the car. Go for it! 😎

I also don’t think the SC belt has been changed on my car (8y, 69k miles). Were you able to do that from above, or is a lift recommended?

The lift made it easier, for sure. But I think it could have been done on jackstands easily enough. The work from below is:

1. removing the underbody panel - about 50 screws around the nose section.
2. Reaching up into the engine with a socket wrench
3. Getting a second hand up in there to pull the belt off the crank pulley.

Then you'd be up top - moving the intake pipe out of the way, sliding the belt up and out the top, threading a new one back down.
Then it's back down underneath to reverse 3-2-1.

I could have done it lying on my back under jackstands without too much difficulty, I think, especially with long arms 😁

If you were closer I'd offer to help!

Great post.
Yes, would like a simple PDF with all parts listed, where/best site to buy from, & link for simple DIY projects vs approx how much $ indy shop would charge to perform.
Thanks,

Great post on your maintenance of your F Type.

Do you have any suggestions how to get access to the supercharger to change the fluid.
The Rock removed a unit that enhanced the sound into the cabin and deleted it.
What did you do to make it easier to service ?
Thank you

I don't think there's any way to make it EASY.

I removed the bolts that hold the symposer (sound gizmo) onto the motor and to itself, so it was a wobbly handful of parts still mostly in the way. Getting it out altogether seemed impossible without breaking it into parts like The Rock did. But that let me feed a long skinny star drive socket through the symposer to get to the supercharger drain plug. I used some tape and zip ties to hold the symposer bits out of the way a bit. It was very awkward and the symposer edges can be really sharp. After spending an entire day leaning over the engine bay blindly turning tiny thumbwheels to reach the coil pack bolts I think I was in a state of delirium for the supercharger part and I don't remember much of the experience. Maybe someday with some therapy I can recall more
