All I can say is that I'm so pleased that I bought my V6S AWD Coupé before JLR guilded the lily.

Shakespeare...King John..

SALISBURY:
Therefore, to be possess'd with double pomp,
To guard a title that was rich before,
To gild refined gold, to paint the lily,
To throw a perfume on the violet,
To smooth the ice, or add another hue
Unto the rainbow, or with taper-light
To seek the beauteous eye of heaven to garnish,
Is wasteful and ridiculous excess.

He would be glad he bought early too

Lower model F-TYPEs have no badging.
-The 4 banger F-TYPE is priced the lowest because its missing two cylinders
-340HP V6 pretty much stays the same

R-DYNAMIC is a pretty much an appearance package installed on a V6 380HP (badging will say "R-DYNAMIC")
-V6 380HP (formerly known as the "S" will no longer have badging.)

400 Sport:
-Is a "special edition" the V6 producing 400HP

R/SVR:
-550HP V8 for the "R"
-575HP V8 for the "SVR"
Lighten up, I didn't in any way mean to be condescending. I was pointing out how confusing Jaguar's new naming system is in what I though was a funny scenario in which a customer can't figure out what model name means what. In all honesty, I wasn't ridiculing you, I was ridiculing Jaguar. Seriously though, the long explanation you gave above also proves the point i.e. if it has to be explained to a customer, then there's something wrong.

I think we all know what the alphabet soup means........but it still will be confusing to the average Joe IMO and they could have done a much better job of it.

It's a quick trip to the insane asylum trying to figure out JLR's reasoning behind badge/naming schemes. When I had my V6 MY17 XE R-Sport, here in the US they badged it 35T huh??!! Absolutely no one could figure that one out!

If I was a salesman...I would use the new lower end versions as bait, then do some number crunching with the customer after doing add ons etc...then say "Gee, your sooo close to what you really want...that V8 R, let's take a test drive in that V8" etc etc..

"More power. More dynamic capability. More thrills. F‑TYPE R is the sports car that is more advanced, sensuous and exciting."

WTF does that even mean?

I mean.. the 400 is "truly unmissable", but I really like "more thrills, sensuous and exciting" too.

If someone can explain Mercedes model naming conventions, then Jaguars should be easy.

Hey, think about us poor early adopters - my 2014 V8 only got the lowly S badge

So they added a vibrating seat option?

I think 'afterburners on' is the normal condition for your car, so yes.

This is exceptionally stupid. A quick rule for cars is that the more you have to explain about it the less cool it becomes.

What kind of car do you have?

Person 1: "Oh, it's a Jaguar F-Type"

Person 2: "I love those! Which model?"

Person 1: "F-Type R coupe"

Person 2: "Oh! Is that R-Dynamic or R?"

Person 1: "I'm so tired of talking about my car now. This conversation is dumb. I'm gonna go sell it and buy a Ferrari or something."

I still love driving the car, but I think I'm about to regret every conversation I have about my car with other car guys.

Sat in a 400 today. "400" was to be seen in many places* (steering wheel, dash, brake calipers, rear panel) - in yellow.

The wheels looked good, while the new seats gave more room while being a snug fit. You might need to use the seat memory function to assist you in leaving the car though.

Centre cubby on the panel behind the seats appeared to contain a speaker cover, although without any Meridian badging.

Oh, and there are now straps on the side of the seat back - just below the headrest which are fastened by press studs and stop the seatbelt falling behind the seat.

*... and the seat backs, the front grill...

While I do agree with you - especially [re] the less said the better - other than us on the Forum, practically no one I know knows ANYTHING about this car. And, truth be told, I am perfectly fine with that. That and while I am always "friendly", I also try not to engage with lengthy, or any, conversation when I can.. Of course, being in Maine makes that that much easier.

Make mine an R Dynamic 400 SVR in any color but the 3 offered on the 400, while we're at it why not a new 10 speed auto and new BRG seats.

As a '16 R owner I'm a bit mad about the R-Dynamic designation. That's just stupid.
They couldn't have just called it "Dynamic"? Or just leave it at "S" FFS.

That's like Porsche rebranding the base Carrera to Carrera Turbo.
