Factory required annual service

Scheduled servicing for most things including engine oil and filter change is every 12 months or 16,000 miles whichever comes first so whoever sent you the email has a record showing your last service was over 12 months ago. But sometimes that record is wrong so I would check your own records first before jumping the gun.
The dealership will not change the diff fluid for free as part of a routine service as that does not show at all on the official service schedule (called Maintenance Checklist by JLR), it's another one of those purportedly "filled for life" things like the auto trans fluid according to JLR. However the general consensus here is the diff fluid should be changed every 50,000 miles or so. Also it is not flushed and refilled it is simply drained and refilled and a few here have done it themselves but the fill plug can be a bear to get at!

"Factory Required Maintenance" rhymes with boat payment due. During the first 5 years, everything under scheduled maintenance is covered, but not the differential fluid, as OzXFR said. I still get those post cards and I'm long past the "requirement" for warranty coverage.
While rear differential fluid change isn't on the normal schedule, it has been recommended by several on the forum. I did mine at lower mileage (like 33k), but it was 7 years. It's an easy job and the cost should be under $100.
