Fast Aristo: An 18" (and 19") Aftermarket Wheel Option for our F-Types
I went around and around on aftermarket wheels and I ended up going with an 18” set as opposed to going up in size to 19 or 20. I went with 18’s for several reasons: First, I have a base model and, as most of you know, the suspension is stiff as it is. Second, I had some almost new Conti’s on the stock wheels. Third, I bumped up the diameter on my (previously owned) XKR and installed Spires springs and I ended up having a ride that was a bit too harsh.
Of course, if I wanted to do this, I had to find 18” wheels that would look good on the car AND I wanted them to be priced reasonably. After quite a bit of research, I only found one set that would really work: Fast Wheels Aristo.
They come in either black or in black with a machined face and smoked clear that gives them a bronze look. I went with the latter and I think they look great with the color of my car (IRR).
As for offsets, they offer 40 and 30 on the 18” wheels. I went with 40 on the front which bumped the fronts out 9mm from stock. I went with 30’s on the back but I added 15mm Eibach Adapters (Part # S90-4-15-005-B). This combination bumped the rears out by a total of 12mm. While some have pushed their wheels out 15-17mm, I thought 9 on the front and 12 on the rears look pretty good and I am happy with where they sit.
I do plan to install VAP springs on this car in a few weeks so that will close that fender gap a bit.
I bought the wheels from 1010 tires (out of Canada) and I found them to be excellent (I have no relationship with them or with Fast Wheels for that matter). They told me 2-3 weeks from the time of the order and it was actually a little less than two weeks. The packaging was outstanding…the wheel boxes were packed inside another box so there were multiple layers of protection.
The wheels balanced up nicely and didn’t require many wheel weights.
I know many of you would choose a larger diameter…and I get that. So, if you like the look of the Aristo’s but you want to go with a larger diameter, they do have them in 19” as well.
If you are looking for a set of aftermarket wheels for your F-Type in 18 or 19” diameter, I think these are a good option.
