Default Is Ferrari Roma inspired by F-type/Aston Martin?

The price point looks like a Vantage competitor, but the F-type influences seem apparent.

Yes, all F-Type until you get to the Boxster nose and the Camaro trailing edge.

And you think Jaguar has spoiled the front end with their facelifts?

Exactly this.

Here's a 2013 F12, for comparison.

Yes, it looks like a much less attractive F-Type wannabe...and as for the F12, well, it looks like it was designed by a committee that could not agee on anything. The trademark of Jaguar designs (all Jaguars) is a purity of line, an elgance of simplicity in which every design feature is properly integrated, not stuck on. This carries into the interiors - a perfect example of this being the integration of the touch screens in Jaguar dash/console designs as opposed to the German-style after-thought i-pads propped up on the dash and obscuring forward vision. Less is more.

Ferrari makes some very effective performance machines, but when it comes to styling their winners are few and far between. Jaguar's batting average is remarkably higher. The XK's, E's XK8's F's. The best looking Ferrari of all time is generally thought to the the 250 GT Lusso and that was almost 60 years ago. Even the Commendatore saluted Jaguar's styling. I am sure that Roma is perfection in many ways, but it doesn't look as good as an F. I am not going to even say anything about that F12. It makes a Vette look good.

Not a hater...it’s just not very attractive.

It's incredible how different tastes can be. I find the F12 to be one of Ferrari's all time greats.

That still doesn't make it attractive, though.

I prefer the look of the front engined Ferrari's especially the 599GTO. I really like this one, but dont think it is prettier than our cars or the db11 - or the new vantage for that matter. If I had to chose between this and a dbs superleggara it would be the Aston any day of the week as it has more of a mongrel look about it. I dont think I would pay more for the Ferrari than I would an F Type based on looks alone.

From the A pillar back it definitely could be mistaken for an f type at a quick glance or the untrained eye. This tells me that a 6 year old design still holds up and is a timeless design that even Ferrari will mimic. BTW I think most Ferrari’s are beautiful and given the means I would have a Portofino.

This is actually a really great video. The guy breaks down the design of the Roma and compares it to the new Maserati and current Aston's.

Pardon for crass comparison... but it is as if a very fit athletic lady that does not have a very attractive face. She might be 10/10 neck-down, but you can't help but notice bucktooth and unevenly placed eyes.

When I still had my Ghibli I ran into a guy who had an F12 and the sound that engine made was absolutely amazing. Almost made me want to run out and buy one, except the Mas had soured me on Italian cars at that point in time--maybe later if a dealership opens up nearer to my home.

But I think the Roma looks infinitely better than the F12. It looks beautiful enough that it could be a Jaguar or Aston. The F12 never could.

I think the facelift will ruin the F-type design. The squinty eyes trend is horrible.
