Default Finding the glovebox light 2017 coupe Premium

While trying to isolate the source of an annoying rattle in the right side/door corner/hinge area, I was looking in the glovebox area. While I think I may have found the rattle source, along the way I noticed that there appears to be a yellow, square, possibly LED light inside the glovebox????

No light comes on when the GB is opened. I did find a glovebox switch online, and also the instructions for disassembly for the corner area. Just looking for info before I tear into something that I shouldn't.

Valerie, Jaguars traditionally (meaning at least since the 50’s and into the 80’s) have had the glove box lights operate only when the exterior lights are on. The rationale seems to have been that if you do not need the other lights to be on in order to see or be seen, then you certainly don’t need the glove box light to operate when the other lights are not on. Odd, yes. I have not tested the glove box light in my F-Type for this Brit-think bit of logic but this certainly was the case in earlier models I have owned.

Valerie: Apparently your light is either burned out or not hooked up. I just checked my 16 Jag and the light comes on as soon as I open the GB door. Lights were not on.

Default so make a prevaricator out of me car!

Went back out to see if I could figure out anything regarding the switch that controls the light. Car is in dark garage with only minimal overhead lighting. Car not on, lights not on. I got in and popped the GB door and behold! The light came on. Opened and closed GB 3X. Now if I can only get so lucky as to have isolated and taped up the rattling wire/pigtail that I think was making the noise (and annoying me).
