First Post - First Jaguar - New F-Type owner says hi
Hi all,
after reading along for some time now and having benefited from the community in preparation to purchase my F-Type greatly, I'm happy to join the forum.
Starting with a Rover 416si purchased from a Jaguar/Land Rover/Mini dealer my love for British cars started - followed with a much more modest Ford Fiesta ;-)
Over time, this has then be replaced by Mini Cooper and followed by a Mini Countryman S.
Since June 2017 the Countryman is gone - and it was quite a sad moment to part from each other.
Now a F-Type V6 MY2018 in BRG with Siena Tan interior is sitting in my garage and as great fun the Mini was - the Jaguar is a dream come true! :-D
So I hope I'll be able to contribute to this forum, share in the fun with the car, and learn more about it moving forward and can also organize one or two meetups in Europe!

Thanks for the warm welcome!
The car is as I already had configured it and was about to get a 2.0 ordered which was just released around this time.
Then this beauty was sitting in a dealer lot 300+ km away, this made the decision quite easy.
I had only driven the V6S RWD and V8AWD and could not get hold of the base V6 in my area around this time for a test drive.
Car has now 3500km and up to now I'm not missing anything.
After the reviews seen on the 2.0, going for the V6 was the right choice for me.
@ Almeida - yeah, quite obvious I guess :-). Did not see you location in your profile, but happy to meet up for a ride in future.

Great color combination!
Keep in mind, F-type's direct injected (DI) AJ engine with oil-pressure controlled variable timing is very sensitive to the engine oil condition. I recommend changing engine oil before the maximum service interval reached, especially for the first engine oil change.

Again many thanks!
@ SinF: Sure, will check with my dealer / service and ask them for early oil change.
What does this do to the next one, i.e. in this case they would not change again during first regular service which is due in June this year.
So when would by your experience be the best point to go for the next oil change - with second year service?

Does the dealer have to change the oil to maintain the warranty? How much does it typically cost for a dealer oil change? Reason I ask is my closest dealer is 100+ miles away...

Someone more knowledgeable about the US situation should chime in soon, and if they confirm that you don't need to have the service / oil change done by a JLR dealership then for sure seek out a more local independent shop and save yourself a bundle. Also do some research on the correct oil and filter, plenty of info on this forum, then buy/supply them yourself and save another bundle.

You can find the oil on Amazon / eBay; for the filter, you may have to go to a dealer.
There has been some other discussion on dealer cost for an oil change, and I recall there was a range of responses. My dealer is $125+tax.

The dealer does not have to do the service, but make sure you use the correct oil that meets JLR's spec (STJLR.51.5122). Also, I'd recommend using an OEM filter - both for warranty and piece of mind. There is more going on in filter design than there was in the old days.
