Default First time at drag strip

I took the car out to the drag strip for the first time. I'm not much of a drag racer. I have been the track in about four years. I didn't mess with tire pressures traction control or anything. I just put it in dynamic and let the car do the rest.

That was my first and only run. I'm sure I could have squeezed another tenth out of there but unfortunately there were multiple oil spills that night so my night ended early.

For comparison I remember the best ET I could get from my 2008 Z06 was 12.0 @123 mph. I could never get the launch down on that thing.

I can see the appeal. Just line them up and go but I will stick to road courses.

something isn't right...only 117 mph? The R should be in the low 120s. I did a 122 or 123, 11 something.

I stand corrected, I did a tad over 120 mph, think I lifted a little early. Condition corrected (what magazines would report), should be about a 122-123mph.

Son of a B. That was a great 60' time. Not sure why you didn't crack 120+ on the quarter mile based on the 1/8mile mph. Heat?

I believe I lifted early. Track was pitch black and wasn't sure where my run off was. But I think a couple more runs the trap speed should be around 120+

The C6 Z06 was/is a tough car to launch and was only available as a 6MT. Those who mastered it made it into the 10's completely stock, and it was a low 11 car for many, but it is about 700 lbs. lighter than the R Coupe. The brilliant ZF auto makes it easy.

What is particularly impressive to me about your run is your 60-ft time, as allenman85 said. For not being "much of a drag racer," it could've been easy to go up in smoke with all that power; but, you didn't. A 1.8 is very nice even if you did scrub a few MPH's when you lifted. I expect you'd easily see 120+ next time.

Agree, anything under 2.0 for a 60-ft in a high power rear drive car seems awesome to me for not being a drag racer! Good stuff! Did you disable traction control or try trac DSC?

I'm shocked this is the first time the Stig has been to a drag strip.

Actually, I think MC was referring to being able to make only one run that night (he ran a Z06 previously). But yeah, heh, I'd be shocked too if that was his very first time at the strip.
