I worry about putting a pack of paper towels in the F-Type trunk - in fact my wife cannot come with me if I am grocery shopping or I would have to make two trips, the second one being to pick her back up!
How true, how true. I always get dirty looks when I open the trunk and my wife's around. She still gives me grief for buying such a "all for me" car.

Good thing I have the Armada too.

I'm in the opposite camp, sort of. I am going to purchase an F-Type, but already have the bicycles. I too could use the exercise and would like to transport a bicycle or two.

I commuted year 'round on my MV Agusta, so have no prejudice that beauty and utility are mutually exclusive, or that a little utility can't be stretched a very long way.

I don't want to buy a truck. I don't want to buy a folding bike. I already have some very nice bikes. I will be driving the F-Type daily, and don't even expect I will keep my current car. I think the Team Sky F-Type not only looks fantastic, but looks fantastic with bikes on it.

A standard wheel size (700C) with full size frame bike, fully broken down, will not fit in the F-Type boot. A smaller scale frame may fit but would have to be fully broken down (handle bar and stem removed, wheels removed.)
Not even if you remove the parcel cover?

Not even close. If you have a pano roof, this may be the perfect solution:

...but don't lean your bike against the car.

Disappointing. I didn't even think about that when I ordered the car. Goes to show how little I've been riding.

Just because I use my vehicles in inappropriate ways doesn't mean I'm careless :^)

I'm a bit fanatical about car care. I door ding really pisses me off, but rock chips don't bother me. The former indicates carelessness by others, the latter is general wear and tear. The only way to avoid wear is to not use the car, and that's inconceivable.

+1. Previously, felt the exact same. This time around, though, I'm going to clear wrap the front end, rockers and wing.

I'll probably be getting the talons to mount my bicycle. Only question: Will the boot hold two 700mm front wheels?

That's a bad thing. When I drive away with the groceries, I forget all about them, and by the time I get home the milk is sour and ice cream melted. Well that's what's happened on previous cars, and I expect it to happen again when mine finally arrives. Sigh!

Seriously, I think the car with the bike rack on top looks great, and sends a positive message about you.

No problem to fit my racebike(size 56 or Large) into the trunk. wheels off, seat off - that's all.

Thanks for the picture. That means that my road bike should fit (also a large), and if that fits, the other bikes should too (one at a time).

JLR can hook you up with this. I wonder how easy it would be to retrofit. The panoramic glass roof is glued in place, that would be a bitch to remove.

Definitely will not fit a 58cm (XL) 29er frame without removing the fork. Measured the boot area before I ordered the car.

The team sky car was a one-off. The hatch has not been available for purchase.

Why not just get a strap mounted rack ala Thule or something? Yeah it doesn't look good, and its a little time to put on and off, but this is for rare occasions right?

For me 2-3 times per week. A Thule might work if it attaches only to the glass. I don't trust any of the aluminum panels to to handle the pressure points without permanent deflection.

I have a Montague folding mountain bike which is full size and fits in the trunk just fine.
