Flashing Start / Stop button

Flashing Start / Stop button
I just got around to changing my scratched up engine start / stop button for a shiny new replacement, which looks much nicer. I seem to remember that the old button used to pulse red under some circumstances or other, though I can't remember when, whereas the new one doesn't seem to light up at all.
Did I dream the flashing red thing or is there some particular circumstance that I need to be in before it flashes?
Thanks!

Not dreaming, it should pulse red when you get in the car (car must recognize the key fob), prior to startup. I don't think they would've stopped the illumination/pulse with the new part designs. The last time I was loaned an F-Pace earlier this year, I recall the start/stop button did the same thing.

Pretty sure it will. It turned out to be my mistake, you just can't see the pulses in bright sunlight. BTW for button removal I found that pushing a bit of sewing thread into the gap around the outside of the black bezel and then pulling removed it easily without risk to the surrounding fascia, though I reckon the tip of a knife with a bit of tape on the fascia to protect it would also work with a bit of care.
