Default Found a hex screw under my seat

Hi,

could someone help me identify the location of a hex screw I found under the driver's seat.

The marking on the screw is BUFO 10.9.

Thanks!

Subscribed, but the possibilities are almost endless. (The markings on the head are strength ratings)

Past repairs (as in, removal of seats for the anti-rattle TSB work, or replacement of parts inside the doors) could be the source.

Or, @scm could have put that under your seat, just to mess with your mind!

Unless you are having further issues, I'd just put it into a baggie and keep it in the glove box.

It is a critical component of the rocket propellant motor for the ejector seat (or could just be spare part you do not know you need yet).

But, you have to also plug in that loose connector in the boot.

I took a cursory look under my seats and didn't see anything like that. What size is it? Easiest way to answer that is to see what size wrench fits the head.

A few observations:

It looks like the end is unthreaded. Those are to help align the bolt going in and are typically used for attaching things to threaded inserts, e.g. in the frame, rather than for a nut and washer.
The strength rating is high. I looked around. Body panels and such are typically 8.8, whereas the bolts that hold the door hinges to the frame are 10.9.
Many of the bolts visible when the hood is open are painted body color, but that doesn't look glossy enough.

Perhaps, seat belt anchor bolts then?

Do you have a JLR dealer close by? Without size info, it looks like a body/fender bolt. My car was missing the two holding the right side headlamp assembly.. never installed! They have the same matte grey finish on that yours does. It could also be one that got dropped at the factory and the assembler didn't have the time or inclination to search it out and just put another one in. Would be good to check how the seats are fastened in, don't want to have either of them break loose at an inopportune time.
