so my wife's office has a lame driveway that angles and also rises. No matter what I do, or what angle I approach it, the front black plastic piece scrapes, see pic. Has anyone trimmed 1/2 inch off this piece? Is it advisable, or does it serve the purpose of protecting the painted bumper? Any ideas? Thanks
There's another thread on this somewhere.. I believe that piece is easily replaceable and doesn't kill your wallet. (you should still look it up just to make sure I wasn't surfing drunk)
I try not to scrape it, but just accept it now. If I'm not diagonal, I can't get out of 1/2 the parking lots around here without a tiny bit of scraping...
Don't take a full 1/2" off. Just take a blade to trim off the streamers every couple of months. It serves as a feeler gauge to let you know to take it easy.
Replacement parts: C2P22211, C2P22212,T2R4160 Total $115 w/shipping from eBay (Rusnak Jaguar Parts)
My home driveway is like this. I reverse up it and drive or slowly. As long as I remember to do this - no scraping. If I forget I'm quickly reminded why I follow this procedure
You guys are awesome! I guess its all worthwhile in the end! Got to drive it today for about an hour and its a sweet ride! As long as the bumper cover stays intact Im OK replacing the stupid lip!
If you haven't already, get a Sho and Sto front license holder. In addition to holding the plate, it does a really good job of protecting the front fascia.

+1 on the "it's unavoidable". There are number of places around town that I frequent that I know are a problem. Like one of my wife favorite restaurants, so I have to go there.
Like the others suggested, I sand it down a little with a sanding block knowing some day I will have to replace them. But so far very little of it is missing so looks fine.
