Default Front Diff & Transfer Case Fluid Change

Hello everyone,

I'm new hear so forgive me if I'm not current in all the good info that has been shared. I found various good threads and in general are so very helpful. I have a 16 F-Type R. What a beast. About 41k miles. I hear that low speed clunk coming from the back of the car that everyone talks about. I'm way out of the original warranty and CPO warranty. I picked up the car used about 5 years ago with about 25k miles on it. I want to change the Rear Diff fluid, front diff fluid and Transfer case fluid. Rear diff I'm good with and have all the info I need however it was definitely not easy to find the BOT 720 fluid and it's pricier than I thought. About $135 for (2) quarts. I'm having trouble locking down which fluid to use for the front and transfer case. When I researched the fluid noted on the bulletins I found which are a little dated, it seems that maybe those fluids are no longer available? Can you anyone advise on a brand, type, and possible place to buy for the front and transfer case. Thanks and my apologies if this has been covered many times on other threads.

Thanks friends

From the info I've garnered over the years:

OzXFR reckons that Motul Gear 300 LS is equivalent to Castrol BOT-720 (JLR part number is LR019727) for e-diffs.
For transfer box people have suggested/recommended S-Tec OIL0005 (factory fill?), Ravenol Transfer Case Fluid TF-0870, and Shell TF-0870.
Front diff Castrol SAF-XO - 75W/90, or Liqui Moly SAE 75W/90 / GL5 fluid.

No personal experience (I'm far too incompetent!) so at your own risk.

I like to use the factory fluid for the rear diff as you mentioned, the BOT-720 as it is readily available. As for the transfer case and front diff, I went with the TF-0870 Shell Tec and the LM GL5 75/90 fluids. So far, no issues. Transmission flush is next, but these are my personal choices

Thanks for the reply. You mentioned that BOT 720 is readily available. I had a lot of trouble finding it. Where do you get it from?

And where can you get the Front diff fluid noted - Castrol SAF-XO - 75W/90? I'm having a really difficult time finding that as well.

Oh and Just curious. How often is it a good idea to change the transfer case oil? That seems a bit more challenging to do than the front/rear diff. I want to maintain my car but don't want to change fluids unnecessarily.

Jaguar says every 3 years for my MY18 V8, 4 years for rear locking diff and 9 years for front diff. How necessary that is for low mileage use is another matter.

I bought the rear diff, transfer case and front diff oil from Ravenol. Had all the appropriate Jaguar specs and was readily available from Blauparts. The Rock’s tutorials made everything go by the book. Happy wrenching.
