I just had this same warning after I got a CEL on my 2010 XKR a couple of weeks ago. Since I have the worn engine that was replaced before I purchased the car, we simply pulled the sensor off the old engine, plugged it in on the current engine, and in less than five minutes the "crisis" was over. Have the sensor checked, doubtful it's actually the camshaft.
X2, I've seen crankshaft and camshaft sensors cause a 'no run' in several cars of all makes. (The ECU is programmed to stop fuel flow if it thinks the engine isn't revolving)
Luckily, you don't have an intermittent sensor. Those could leave you stranded multiple times if they are not diagnosed correctly.
