Default Fueling up

Got my first tank of gas today and I had to ask for help. It kept shutting off. The attendant did something like pulling the rubber seal back and it slowly filled. He said the Z4 was the same way. Is this something I have to live with?

Yes...especially in Cali.

Find a station that works and stick with it, there's a Chevron that's 17 miles from me that has completely filled the car up once and on my 2nd visit yesterday, it took two tries to completely fill it from the 1/4 mark...rather than my usual click off every gallon at every other station.

There were some high-end Mercedes there refueling so I can imagine they all know this station's pumps work better than the rest...I know where I'm getting my gas locally from now on:

There are dozens and dozens of posts on this issue. Do a search, and you'll find plenty. It is VERY common, and most commonly reported, on cars located in CA because the vapor recovery nozzles used there don't play well with the fuel filler design on the F-Type.

I've never had the problem anywhere on the east coast.

After my local Costco started advertising as a "top tier" distributor I have been able to fill up every time without issue.

NO! This is a known (to the F-Type community) issue. Replacing part number T2R13703 (fuel filler pipe) will fix the problem. That pipe has a sensor that has been found to be bad on some of our cars.

The dealer fixed mine and now it fills without the annoying pump shutoffs. I thought it was the filler neck insert and not the whole pipe (unless the insert and pipe are one peice).

I believe that is indeed the case.
