Gearbox whine

Gearbox whine
F-type 2.0 Ingenium engine, has developed a low pitch moan or whine around 1500 - 2500 rpm, especially noticeable when slowing down gradually through the gears (automatic box). One of these noises you can't quite put a finger on, does not do these when revving slowly through the revs when in neutral, hence think it is in the transmission. Any help?

It does not seem to depend on road speed as such and is most noticeable when, say, you decelerate slowly, without braking, and as it changes down through the gears the noise comes in at the rev. range around 1500 to 2000rpm. You can only hear this when the engine, itself, is relatively quiet, that is, if you accelerate the exhaust noise will drown it out (it probably is still there, though!) At those revs the frequency of the "moan" stays the same. If it helps, the perception is that the sound seems to emanate from the front of the car on the passenger side.

Where are you located? Time to find a new dealer. A one month wait seems to be excessive.
