Getting a longer test drive
I currently own a XF and am very interested in the F-type for my next purchase. I already did a test drive, but it was a quick 15 minutes with the salesman in the car. Is it realistic at this price point to ask to have the car for a few hours by myself? (I can certainly understand why dealerships don't want to do this but I know it's balanced with how badly they want to sell the car.) I've never bought a car in this price range before. If this request isn't reasonable, did anyone rent one and if so was it worth the expense? Thanks for any advice.

So, I see you are also in Georgia. When I was trying to make my final decision Jaguar of Buckhead let me borrow a loaner F-Type for a weekend. Helped make it clear this was the car I need.
That being said, Jaguar of Buckhead IMO are one step up from a buy here/pay here lot and I wouldn't recommend buying your car there. Their lack of professionalism is pretty appalling. I have a great localish recommendation if you need for a dealer who will get you a better deal than any of the three dealerships right in the Atlanta area.

Here in the UK, I got mine for 24hrs, just had to ask. At first they insisted I put a deposit down, but I pointed out that I obviously wanted the test drive to confirm it was the car for me, or I would out a deposit down, but if the test drive changed my mind I wanted it in writing that it was 100% refundable with no charges. I got the car

Heck, it shouldn't even be at this price point that you should be able to get the car to yourself for awhile.
When I purchased my Wife's (used) Cayenne from our local Porsche Dealership, the sales guy told me to take it home & bring it back at the end of the day. When I purchased my (then new) 2012 Ford F-150, the sales guy told me to take it for the day if I wanted (which I did). When I purchased my Wife's (then new) 2011 Ford Expedition, the guy told me to take it for the day. When I test drove a Cadillac CTS-V & was sitting on the fence about it, the sales guy offered to let me take the car for the day. (I declined but he could tell I was leaning towards not buying so he wanted to do what he could to convince me.)
If your sales person/dealership is making it an issue with an extended test drive, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. If they're giving you crap about a test drive at this price point, imagine what the service dept will do if you have service issues?
