Default Good Bye fellow Jag F-Type enthusiasts

As much as I liked the Jag I have to say I love Porsche's more. So today I traded in my V8S for a 2016 Porsche Spyder December build. It will become the 3rd Porsche in my garage and is probably overkill but what the hell.

I do have the Mods4cars smart top that I no longer need and if anyone is interested in it I'm offering it for $260 and that includes FedEx to you. (In the US only) Just PM me.

I've enjoyed participating here and want to thank everyone for responding to any and all questions I previously had. Good luck to everyone.

I will leave you with, "Porsche, there is no substitute".

Walt

Can't beat the engineering on a Porsche... 50-year lead on the F-Type.
German content of the F-Type is over 50% (major power-train components).
I'll stick with my F-Type: the best of German Engineering, British Design, the car has a soul that I just find lacking in the Porsche.

Having been in a few Porsche-mobiles.. yes, low on the soul qualities..

Agreed, they've never moved my soul, and it's one of the few sports cars I've never wanted to own. To my eyes, they've always been rather ugly, and looks do matter to me. I have driven more than a few over the years, and they are quite capable.

Bye, Walt. I was always impressed with your contributions!

Walt,
Enjoy your 3rd Porsche, any car in their line is certainly capable. But sorry to say "there are plenty of substitutes." Never liked the looks of any of them, inside or out (although the 911 is now better looking than anytime in its history), but this is the same company that designed the Panamera and the Cayenne, challenging the 1962 Valiant, the Alfa Milano, and the Pontiac Aztec for the ugly design trophy of all time. Competent, absolutely, soul stirring, not for me and many others. But, it's all about what makes you happy, and I wish you the best with your new purchase.

I too wish you well and happy motoring - saw a Cayman [GT4 I believe] yesterday on the streets of Portland, and while it didn't exactly float my boat it was pretty gorgeous - but I wholeheartedly agree with tberg that the Cayenne, which I've never liked the looks of, and the Panamerica, which I've "tried" to like the looks of - I thought that it might grow on me...but it never did, fail in the design department miserably.

Then again, and as with just about everything - especially something so subjective as design - to each his/her own.

Good luck.

I am a Porsche guy first and foremost and have had an air cooled 911 or 930 in my garage since I finished college in 1989. I can understand the op's love for the cars.

that said, there is no sexier car than the f-type and the coupe in particular!

good luck with your new german ride bit do know...you will miss the approval of your f-type from the sexy women

It's a shame that threads like this always result in digs at the member's choice of new car.

Can't we just congratulate, wish the member well and move on?

The key to a successful forum of any kind is the honest exchange of views, particularly opinions. It is useful to many to hear the perceptions of others.

If everyone adhered to a policy of keeping their likes and dislikes to themselves, and the content was dominated by "congratulations," etc., it would be a pretty boring place with not much active participation.

Walt B was a valuable contributor here, and he was thanked for that. The formidable performance of 911s was also duly noted. I see nothing wrong with expressing personal opinions about the styling. I'd also be happy to hear from those who think the F-Type is not visually appealing, because I'd be curious as to why. I, for one, like hearing everyone's HONEST, unfiltered views.

Completely agree with your view in wishing WaltB the best and I do so as well. As with others I also am not a Porsche guy but their looks and performance do rock. However... if it was not for honest opinions forums would cease to exist. I'm sure Walts skin is thick enough.

agree with foosh on the comments mentality. IMO Porsche is ugly. It sucks because I feel like I should love them and I've tried to. But they're ugly. Congrats on the expensive car though. Should handle well.
