@JacksonvilleJag

I am now driving around in the P400e for about three weeks. The car is really well balanced, and with the images of the new Range Rover starting to circulate, I realise I have gold in my hands : the last traditional Range Rover !

The new one has the interior from the New Defender (one big tablet on the centre console), the gearlever from the most recent upgrade of the Velar and D5, the doorhandles of the Velar, the front from the new Evoque..

In short : the same trick they pulled when they gave te F-Type the front from the XE ; they downgraded it as an individual design line to a 'family look'.

The previous owner is a bit like me, we both like an individual look. The chrome stripes on the doors are classic SVO style:

I am very content with the two screens. The top one is tiltable to avoid reflections. The controls on the lower screen are logically grouped, and there still are some hardbuttons and controls also.

Then the PHEV part. In the beginning I was a bit confused. They proclaim a 13,4kWh battery and a 50km EV-range. That never happened, so I got a bit nervous about the condition of the batterypack.

I even put a powermeter inline while charging, that told me it charged 13,2kWh from 3-100%. So it seemed fine. Than it turned out it actually doesn't go flat to 0% for real, and also doesn't charge to 100%.

Ltihium-ion batteries have a only 2000 full cycles. But if you limit to 5-95% its already 5000 cycles, and I think the limits on this are 7-93 %, giving it 10.000 cycles, or 400.000km's life expectancy.

After that I watched a review in which it was mentioned that the capacity was "12kWh" . That is then the correction for the 7-93% range, roughly.

Also Tesla says their batteries loose 1% every 50.000km. The guarantee covers a capacity of minimal 70%. So 30 x 50.000 = 1.5 million kilometers.

Further, I love the ride. In EV mode its dead quiet. In ICE mode it runs on the same engine as the P300, but it sounds less sporty, also as the car is heavily sound proofed.

And if I want, it still goes 0-100km in 6.8 secs.. But it doesn't come near in handling on a winding road. The driving experience is incomparable with the F-Type.

But given the circumstances, for me it was the rational way to go. And I still have the video's to watch. And the dealer says if I miss her too much, I can allways

ask for the demo F-Type to go for a spin...
