Default Goodbye to SiriusXM!

I have been a subscriber for decades on my boats and cars, seemed like the best way to get a variety of music. Over the years I have put up with automatic renewals that have bitten me in the butt, having to call in every 5 months to get another in an endless line of special deals, and problems using my credit card.
With this car, I find I do not want to listen to music, just the car and the exhaust note. I have used the radio very, very little..even after the dealer update.
The final straw was that I missed the date on an automatic renewal and my sub renewed at full price. Argh!!
So I called to cancel all 3 subscriptions. It actually took me 15 minutes of transferred calls and enticements before they finally listened to me. I won't miss it at all.

I didn't bother activating free Sirius subscription that came with the car. Their pricing model is definition of obnoxious.

I tried my best to cancel with them this year, they just kept dropping the price the longer I stayed on the phone. They got down to $30 for a year and I figured I might get some value from it for that price - so I caved in and renewed.

Things must be pretty desperate for them with Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music etc.

How much do you charge hourly for your time?

I used that line of thinking in a doctors office once who was always running behind. After that, believe it or not, the guy never left me waiting.

It would be a little easier to avoid Sirius if the F had a larger hard drive. I can only hold ten CD's in what JLR calls the CD Changer. Whereas the Benz has a 10 GB hard drive. But I agree that dealing with Sirius is not an enjoyable experience. Nothing seems to be upfront.

thats impressive. i've been doing the 5 months for $25 for the past 6 years. at this point i just call in and say "hey i am gunna cancel my subscription unless you can give me that deal again". they usually say sorry sir we have something else......i say no......then they magiclally find the deal is available again and give it to me. for 2 cars none the less

i should try to see if i can get it to 30

Yeah, I was doing the 5 for $25 forever, it seemed. Then I got lazy or forgetful and missed the cancel date. Presto, full price renewal. I bet they have someone in the Far East who says "gotcha!" when that happens.

I learned that you can use a pre-paid debit card with a fixed limit which you consume. Sirius will discover that won't be able charge it and so they then wind up billing you. I'm getting tired of the BS as well but they have 6 months for $30 so I might try that. Certainly never agreed to allow them to auto-charge ANYTHING on this car myself.

SiriusXM is the 8-track tape of streaming. Funny that people still use it.

good news about that.......is if you do get billed full price, you can always still call to cancel and they will refund you the difference.

ive done it where i was 2 weeks past the cancel date, got billed at full price. called in to cancel, they prorated me and gave me the difference

Yeah, but I am just sick of having to call in to get the "better" deal. If they cannot offer their best deal on the web, they won't get any more of my money.

Instead of giving them a credit card, just tell them to send you a bill.

Sirius has the audacity to add a $2 invoicing fee for a paper bill.

It would be interesting to know just how much the $30 offer really costs after they add all of the fees.

The $30 for six months does not include the $5/month for non-vehicle streaming. There was a six month for $50 offer that includes the streaming and, with taxes, was $60.xx last night.

In creating the online account, I found it interesting that all of the email notifications were set as opt-in and you had to change them to opt-out, but the section for renewal notice was set as opt-out and you have to change it to opt-in. Borderline deceptive practice if you ask me...

Let the F type Sirius subscription expire - didn't want it any price as I drive this car infrequently and when I do I drive as opposed to listen to the radio. They keep sending me the offer of 6 months for $30 to re-sign.

My daily driver car's subscription expires in March and called to cancel that today. They wanted $191 for renewal which I declined then they offered $109. which I declined then they offered $90 - all in the space of about 15 seconds. I offered to pay 12 months for $60 but when they checked they advised the could only do 6 months for $30 - letting that one lapse too unless they come around.
The free trial subscription in my wife's Mini Cooper expires in
October - let's see what they offer then.

Thanks!
