Default Great vacation for high performance car lovers

I just got back from a European vacation with a group called Autobahn Adventures and it was amazing.

They have a number of trips they do but the one I took was a driving trip through Germany (autobahn), Austria (the Austrian alps) and Italy (Tuscany and Florence)

There were 13 cars 10 Audi R8 Spyders and 2 Prosche carrera 4 GTS. The location for each nights stop are programmed into the navigation so basically you are on your own, you can travel with the group or go off on your own. i met two other couples and we traveled a lot together hitting speed of up to 175 MPH and taking turns in the pole position. The Alps were a blast as well driving the winding roads over the pass.

Now I am sure a couple of you think that the wives / Girlfriends will not be interested, but they have something for everyone. Each night we stayed in 5 star Hotels with amazing spas and of course there was tons of shopping in Italy. the group also set up lunches in a castle over looking a Tuscany valley, dinner on a roof top in Florence and a lake cruise on lake Garda.

if you want to see Europe this is the way to do it. The back roads and and freeways we took were always amazing with views and locations.

if anyone has any interest or questions let me know I am happy to pass on any info.

But if you want the chance to drive a high performance car the way it was mean to be driven this is the way to do it.

Still getting my photos together but if anyone interested I can post a few pics at a later date.

Sorry the 13th car was an R8 as well. I drove the R8 since that's what I requested and this trip was mainly built around the R8 and Audi. They didn't have enough cars so we ended up with 2 Porsche's . The other driving trips for this group are all Porsche's this is the only one that is for the R8.

Sounds like an awesome trip! I just did this drive last week from Vienna through Linz then to Munich but in a Mercedes C300 lol. Not quite R8 but we did hit 130mph a few times. In Slovakia now until next Monday. Cant wait to get home to my beast

Its a bit pricey but well worth it. Everything is included including gas, Tolls, Hotels, Food etc.

https://autobahnadventures.com/

A 5-Country Adventure over 13 days in a Porsche 911 will set you back $10,995 per person. But it includes serious mileage run up at high-speeds on a sports car that is fully insured for that price, so you have no down-side if you break it. With airfare, you're looking at $1,000 per day per person, the accommodations are 5-star, figure $500/day for the car, $500/night for the hotel experience. OK, times two since you're going to bring your wife or your mistress...

Looks like fun to me!

Great cars, but oh my, they are so ugly.

Thanks for the pictures! It certainly does sound like something I should put on my bucket list.

Imagine a fleet of F-Types in those pictures...
That would totally be worth the price of admission.

I did talk to the company about a jaguar F trip they were intrigued so we shall see. All of the people in our group were car people and had everything ranging from Porsche to Astons to R8 to Ferrari's and they all agreed on one thing. the F type is a beautiful car.

I've done similar trips on motorcycles. They were quite spectacular. Spain, Italy on MV Agusta; France, Spain on Ducati, Norway on BMW ...

Those kinds of trips are not cheap, but pretty fantastic. None of mine were as pricey as this, but I've got some indelible memories. It was on one of those that I got to ride an MV Agusta F4 312R at Hockenheimring.

Great pictures. Having spent a lot of miles in the Audi's and Porshe. How do you feel your Jaguar stacks up when it comes to handling etc up against them?

My Jag is the base model so of course it doesn't have the speed of the R8 but over all I love the comfort of my jag more and I think it handles just as well as the R8. if I have the choice I would take the F type R over the R8 any day and of course it is a lot better looking. The only thing I liked more in the R8 was the navigation. You can set the distance level on the navigation but it would zoom in when you had to make turns or road choices and zoom back out once you were back on track.

I swear my MY2016 nav does that as well... Now I have to go check, I don't frequently use it.

Sounds and looks like a blast. And while not exactly in the same vein as you suggest, I suggest that there's another Great Vacation for High Performance Car Lovers; and that's taking any vacation without your F-Type or any high performance car. Upon your return getting behind the wheel of your F-Type will likely elicit (for some possibly illicit) that much more fun and excitement. At least that's the way I feel when I am parted from my F-Type for any length of time. Absence makes the heart, and the pulse, grow fonder.

I could swear my MY2015 nav does it also....

Could it just be the settings in the nav menu?

My '16 does so as well. Just press the "Auto" button right above the scale indicator.
