Yes, it's a setting - my 2014 does that. I turned it off because it drove me nuts. I keep North up on my maps, and it first turns that off before it starts zooming in. Could be handy for some routes, I guess.

I had no idea, will have to check that out. great feature. I just usually watch the info on the cluster.
