Greetings and first post!
First time Jag owner and first post. This seems like a great place for knowledge sharing and just conversing with people who share the same interest in cars. Especially British cars
I am a software engineer and am expecting delivery of a 2016 White S with 6 speed coupe tomorrow. Only 3000 miles on it and under warranty through 2023! None the less, I am sure I will be asking lots of questions here and sharing lots of pictures. I also have a classic TR6 which I restored and is my current convertible. Made room in the garage for both vehicles. I have always been a Triumph lover since my teens. So much so that when I restored my recent TR6 I created a Triumph site for hosting photos at www.TriumphDrivers.com and if all goes well with my F-Type, I should one day setup a photo hosting site for Jaguars as well.
Anyway, thats it for me. Looking forward to participating in the forums!

Make sure you are aware about MT clutch issues:

2016 at 3,000 it is very likely still on original clutch. Drive the car hard, refuse delivery if clutch is slipping on hard shifting. Otherwise you may be stuck arguing with dealers about who is going to pay for fixing this.

Your clutch will slip when car is driven hard then explode within first 10K. Dealer will blame your driving on this and ask you to pay about $4K to get it fixed. After you show them service bulletin that documents this as a well-known problem in early (2016) MTs, they may agree to fix it under warranty. If not, JLR may intervene and authorize repair under goodwill. Some people were denied warranty repairs for unknown reasons.
That is, despite this being a known issue there is no recall and JLR doesn't always pay for repairs even under warranty. This is 100% fixable, the only question is who pays.
I strongly recommend to insist on "inspection" drive during your delivery. Have sales rep or service manager with you in the car. Do some hard shifting while accelerating, if clutch slips, refuse delivery until this is fixed.
Also, print this out and carry in your glove box: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...18156-9999.pdf

Welcome jtorral, and congratulations. Like you, my first British car was a TR6, took delivery in London, drove it throughout Europe, and shipped it back to NYC. Later drove it to California where I became knowledgeable about and favored Jaguars. Now on my 11th Jaguar, each has been a source of pride and fun. I barely recall the Lucas jokes I learned early, especially since the post Ford era. Good luck reviewing all the advice on the MT and clutch.

If it is not a fourth-generation clutch, it will by all accounts fail sooner or later. As far as I can tell there aren't yet any reports of (properly used) fourth gen clutches failing prematurely.
This was my ordeal: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...please-215118/
I later learned that Jaguar did not in fact accept the warranty claim, and that my dealer replaced my transmission as a goodwill repair. The dealer didn't tell me this, I found out inadvertently from a jaguar customer relations rep.
A bit of searching will reveal that threads such as these (help help my mt jag is broken) pop up intermittently on this forum.
I don't mean to burst your bubble, I just want to help you go in with your eyes open, and to prepare you for (if not spare you from) the frustration that I and many others have experienced.
