I had a little prang in my F-Type which resulted in a some pressure being applied on the very front of the bonnet. Luckily no scratches on the paint work but the chrome surround around the grill now has a slight gap. Close up I can see what looks like a broken clip (see picture). Can anyone tell me if it's the grill or surround which is broken? I'm intending to get it fixed but don't want to specify the wrong part to be replaced.
Here’s what the grill and surround looks like from above:
If the broken part is chromed, you need a new surround. If it’s black, do you need the grille.

If that's plastic, which I assume it is, can't it be ultrasonically plastic welded?
Follow-up question. Does anyone know if the bumper has to come off in order to replace the surround?
Cheers,
Paul
The bumper is just a piece of plastic that surrounds some Styrofoam. The surround, bumper skin and upper & lower grille come out of the nose as a single piece. You then unscrew the top and bottom grille from the surround and remove the bumper & grilles as a single unit. The first steps, though are to remove the front bottom pan and then the nose of the car so you can get at the screws from behind.
