Paul@Wortec
We have machined everything and the parts have been sent out for coating......there is a short delay as having different finishes (black rotors) means we have to wait for the finishers to do a batch, they should have them dipped in the next day or two then we just need to assemble and balance.......so hope to have ready to ship later this week......fingers crossed.

As we have machined everything now I think it is time to call a halt to the group buy and the two missing orders will need to go to full price......is that OK with you?

Attached are a couple of pictures of the bells on the sandblast carousel.

Ok, guys...THIS IS YOUR FINAL CHANCE TO PLACE YOUR ORDER.

The black looks pretty nice. Since I didn't order black and need to be happy with that choice, I'll say that I hope the black holds up under use. I've got a definite lip on the stock rotors. I think that comes from hills, speed, and two lead feet.

Since the hats on all the rotors are black, once the swept area loses that black and gets shiny, the black rotors won't look a lot different than the unpainted ones except under close inspection.

Who, how and what method are they shipping? for the cost of shipping I would think it would be 2 day international!
i would hope they will email tracking number to each recipient.

just my 2 cents!

Even at that rate I don't expect two-day shipping. Once packed up, we're probably looking at 40 kg/set.

Looks like the thermal slots will remain black making them stand out more

Might be a first, but I disagree with your "close inspection" theory. The difference will be easily spotted from 20 paces. The portion of the rotor inside the friction radius (where the pad contacts the rotor) inward to the point where the rotor integrates with the eight black tabs on the hat will have a much cleaner appearance. Without the black chromemate finish, this inner area where the rotor integrates with the hat will be a jagged contrast between silver rotor and black hat.

I am basing that on the speculation that the most recent picture is of a batch of Black Chromemate rotors... as this pic below is gibbo's non-black tester...

I have the sense from an earlier communication from Wortec that Paul will be shipping on Saturday or early next week.

No idea. Either air freight or slow boat. I’ll check with Wortec. [/Quote]

I suppose I don't have a problem with brake rotors looking like brake rotors. The Brembos on the bikes have gold carriers that are quite distinct from the rotor itself. It just seems normal.

I actually like contrast between the separate pieces.

Default Update

From Paul @Wortec
Just a quick email to update you on rotors.......

We have been struggling to keep up with orders as the balancing and honing stage seems to be dragging on.......we only have one balancer and the current volume of jobs is pushing it hard.

The good news is we should be done this week and we can get the rotors sent.

Please apologise to the group on my behalf.........

Regards
Paul

I suspect that inner area will turn to a dark rust brown in short order, and difficult to distinguish from the black hat (except under close inspection). Time will certainly tell.

I can report that my disc have no signs of rust anywhere on them as Wortec do coat and treat the disc, so seems to be holding up well.

Other 2PC disc, sorry rotors I keep forgetting US forum, but needless to say they corroded / rusted after the first car wash.

So Wortec have a much better manufacturing process but we know for them that brakes are life and is their primary focus in motorsport.
