Unless you have eight corners on your car, that's only 100# savings . Where are you getting the other 100# ?

I'm shooting to get my car as close to 3500# as possible: CF wheels (80#), Wortec discs (50#), Lithium battery (30#). It'll take a few social security checks, but I'll eventually get there.

We're in agreement. Lots of unsprung weight and minimal sidewall is not a recipe for suspension compliance.

I only mentioned the rotational inertia as a minority benefit. It's definitely significant on motorcycles, though, where I have considerable experience. There, it also affects steering. I noticed a slight improvement in acceleration with tire/wheel swap on a grievously underpowered car, but doubt I'd feel anything in that respect with the F-Type.

@Unhingd

Can you please explain why suncut would improve cooling? Also with this cut, does edge of the pad leaves disk? Also, what about small pebbles getting wedged into it and ripping your pads apart?

IronMike, Any decision yet on which edge?
Gibbo, Are you still certain you want the drilled only?

lizzardo, Do you still prefer the slot only option? I'll check to see if Paul will allow us a 4th option.

I'm going to contact Paul Monday afternoon and want to give him the details as closely as possible so he can move quickly once he gets the OEMs in for measurement. Obviously, he will not begin fabrication until the payments are submitted.

Other weight saving mods
VAP exhaust + downpipes (15#) the SVR exhaust (35#). The VAP lowering springs (12#). 2018+ seats (17#). Converting non aluminum body parts to carbon fiber and going to the gym are other options.

Non-weight saving mods
spacers, bigger/heavier tires, a wife/gf

Any chance of getting two piece 326mm discs for the rear for those that only have the performance brakes (380 front 326 rear)?

I'm leaning towards the low-profile Suncut, though I have the same questions as SinF:
Why/how does suncut improve cooling?
Does the outside edge of the pad leave the disk, or is the suncut edge outside the radius of the pad?

Yes, need to get creative on that second hundred pounds. Engine cover, tools/tow hook, 2nd battery saved me a bit - 15# and that was free!. May do the lithium battery and seat swap. Beyond that, it gets even more pricey.

You’d have to find five others willing to go in on a group buy for 326 mm.

Both good questions. I’ll ask Paul on Monday.

I'll go along with thermal slots if it helps in any way. If he truly does not care, slots only is still my preference, but not enough to gum up the works on the group buy.

I'll put long odds that the "suncuts" mean the edge *does* leave the pad surface. I can't see it making sense any other way. Otherwise, it's just extra metal to cause clearance problems for the caliper. As for how it might help cooling, I can think of some possible mechanisms. e.g. helping pull more air through the vents. We'll see what Paul has to say.

Heck, forgot about VAP exhaust 10# and lowering springs 12#. I may already be at 3700#, another 50 to go to a respectable 3650#. Then with new VAP 600HP tune, I shouldn't lose too many stoplight races... (Not that I have so far)

What you done to reduce weight buddy?

I've got an SVR with carbon pack and carbon roof. Its also got the 20" forged wheels which are around 12kg each.

These 2PC brakes should save me another 20kg so at a guess will be around 1690kg.

Just wondering if there is anything else I can or did the SVO team pretty much do what could be done without making this GT into a more out and out track car?

Maybe, but the 'hats' would be the same as the 376's, so maybe the disks could be made as part of the deal?

Is the rear caliper the same on the smaller disc?

I am sure if there are 5+ needing the smaller rears then Wortec could facilitate that as well.

I forgot about those 2 items as well. I might just make it to 3500 lbs.

The hats for all of them will be the same. (Same rotors). However, the 326 and 376 rear calipers will not be the same.

Paul would have to go back and order a set of 326 rotors to take measurements. Unless he gets an order for five I don’t know how likely he is to do that. I will ask.
