H&R Lowering Springs on Base F-Type
#21
unlike unhingd my ride was effected, the GF notes often on how much better it rode before the H&Rs. i like it, but after driving a shiny new 400 for a few hundred miles recently i must say mine rides rough. i would also not recommend the H&R spring unless that is what your looking for. On the positive they look great! The body roll is virtually eliminated and that will contribute to slightly more wheel spin in a strait line hard launch with less of it being "absorbed" in the chassis. i don't have the base suspension so my opinion is based on my V8S with active suspension.
Thanks for the insight!

Do you have a base?
Interesting. I must admit that I do not know the difference between base and dynamic suspension just yet. I haven't done any research as to whether it's a magnetic suspension etc. but do know there's a difference between the dampers. I've also read that the H&R's do outwork the dampers when not in dynamic mode, hence me really searching for those with non-dynamic dampers.

Here's how the dampers work...

This thread piqued my curiosity about what my base model would look like lowered, so I asked both my ex wives to sit in it while I viewed the car from different angles. Turns out I like things just the way they are, not with the wheel well liners pressing down on the tires.

Smaller bumps are slightly harsher. Almost as though a bit rougher around the edges, but that's to be accepted with a lowering spring so I'm still overall very satisfied. Due to the mild drop, I'm not noticing any pogo affect which I was previously afraid of either as it seems the damper still has a decent amount of travel.

The Eibach kit is indeed the best option. First of all lowering the car too much reduces your suspension travel, secondly, the height sensors on your control arms will provide inaccurate feedback to your DSC. My car has Eibach springs and beefier anti-roll bars. The latter was what truy changed the car's composure in turns.
Do these cars require any reprogramming from the dealer after lowering? Got me concerned about the active suspension and DSC sensors now.
Any tips for the install? I know you’re supposed to transfer all the stock rubber spring pads to prevent rattling. Anything else? Do you have to drop the rear axle?
Thanks

old thread, but I’ve got springs going on this week so its time for some Q&A.

Not that I know of.

Yup, transfer all stock rubber pads and spring isolators. Other than that, it's a very straight forward install. No dropping of the rear axle needed.
Thanks

Think that drop would suit me, Now my 4 pot is currently sitting on new conti sport contact 6 tyres, 305/30/20 rear and 265/35/20 front and 15mm H&R spacers all round, jaggyx would you have a link to the Eibach's you bought was it same as these https://www.tunershop.co.uk/eibach-p...ar-f-type.html

I believe they only make one part number for the V6 springs.

Do some shopping around though. They can be had for much cheaper than $600.
