Have you been pulled over?
Rather than hijack the attention getting thread Id thought I'd start this. I was near home starting my drive to work today when I didnt see the crown vic in the trees who lit me up w laser and pulled me over 51 in a 30. He was nice enough told me he pulled me over because it was a white sports car and stands out. He said because its new, Im probably not used to it- I agreed heartily (made me think of Seinfeld "you should have seen me before that curve I was doing well over 100") Was given a warning but told next time Im getting full citation. BTW not in dynamic mode that may have resulted in a citation for noise violation!
anyone else get nicked yet?

Ok so no F type here, but I can relate to the question, that's for sure....
In the past, over many years ( 20+ ) as an sales engineer, then Area sales manager I covered a lot of territory, usually around 50k - 70k in a year most years. I've travelled well over 1M miles in that time, being on the road 4 or 5 times more than the average driver, you are 4 or 5 times more likely I guess to be caught speeding or involved in a RTA.
Probably one of the funniest / luckiest was coming down the infamous A9 from Inverness, this was around 12 years or more ago I guess.
I was on a dual carriageway stretch that was becoming single carriageway and needed to get in front of the lorries, caravans etc etc so really put the foot down.
I was probably around 120mph I guess when I came round the shallow bend and saw the cop car with the laser pointing, and reacted very quickly, whilst shouting profanities to myself....lol
Sure enough they came out behind me and pulled me over about a mile or so up the road. I jumped out the car straight away and into theirs, asking, is there a problem officer?....lol
Going a little fast, running late are we?
No, says I
What speed do you think you were doing?
Bearing in mind it's a 60mph, I says ohh around 58mph - 59mph ( hopefully )
No he says, pointing to a screen....we got you doing 84.7 mph
I wasn't going THAT fast was I???
Big sigh>>>>>
He says, we got you coming down off the dual carriageway, overtaking everything at 124.6mph, but as you came down towards the single carriageway there was another car going the opposite direction that interfered with the reading.
We got you from the back, BRAKING HEAVILY after you saw us at 84.7mph
Ooops
Fair cop...
There was unfortunately a time in my youth years ago, when the police and I ( traffic police ) were almost on first name terms, caused me all sorts of problems, now on my 3rd licence
That was may many years ago, I got older, grew up, wised up and have been a lot more careful ever since, slowing down somewhat too.

During the long 133 day wait between ordering my F-Type and delivery the dealer called me up and asked "do you have a PBA card?" Very funny question for a car dealer to ask. (Policemen's Benevolent Association).
The reason the dealer asked about the PBA card is I had left a message about how to handle the front license plate (I didn't want to mar the looks of the car). I ordered an Altec retractable frame License Plate Frames - Altec Products Inc. but the dealer told me that the front was so low I would only break it off. His proposed solution was to carry a PBA card and hope for a sympathetic cop.

Now's not the time for me to post/list all the times I've been pulled over - thus far not once in the F-Type - and it's been many (with a 99.9% "success" rate) but I did get the following text TODAY from the GM of my local Jaguar dealer where I bought my car:
"One of my scouts report that you were tearing it up in downtown Portland last night, pulling a U-turn and letting the exhaust note ring down on Portland. Is this true?".
Small world, ain't it? Last night being a small and loud world.

Last year I was seriously exploring a Cayman purchase; that was well before I even considered the F-Type. I had one out for a test drive on US 6, up the Clear Creek Canyon road west of Golden; it's nice and twisty with a miserable 45 mph speed limit. I passed a slow moving truck and immediately entered one of the short tunnels. Sure enough on the far side of the tunnel was Smokey waiting before I had fully slowed, doing maybe 55 at that point. He stopped me, for a missing rear license plate. I explained it was a dealer car, and me just on a test drive. Obviously he just wanted a close-up look at the car. I image some of you have been stopped in the F-Type for that same reason.

yeah, I fully appreciate your Country, it's laws and police officers with guns etc, a little more than scary I'd guess.
It's more than a little different over here, no guns at least. To be fair I think if I lived in the good ole US of A I'd more than likely sit quietly in my car until approached

Guys, as much as I love the US and the way you guys are, what you believe in and what you stand for, and the honest forthright style etc, I'd love to move there at some point, who knows, maybe one day....
In the meantime at right now, for the purposes of this discussion, I'm glad I don't ..lol
Otherwise I may be dead right now.....

Is there a legitimate way to get one of these PBA cards? Make a "donation" somewhere? I'm not going to buy one off of eBay, as my luck, I'd get a counterfeit one and be in even more trouble than just a traffic violation.

It's not a get out of jail free card, but as long as you are respectful and not doing anything really stupid it is helpful in dealing with law enforcement (especially CHP).
