Default Heck with the X152 get an XK180 F-Type!

I have no idea how they come up with the numbers but before the F-Type we got there was the F-Type, XK180 show car (there were only two made, one for the US and one for Europe). I've been lusting after one since I saw it over a decade ago. Well a company in Europe is making them and for a paltry $325K Euros (That's $360K dollars in the US) you can have one custom made for you. No complaints about the sound system as it doesn't have one. Don't like a top, it doesn't have one of those either, but it does have (hold your breath) a removable steering wheel! Impractical as hell but damned if I don't lust for one. Basically it is an XKR under the covers but the body is hand made aluminum just like the show car. Now I just wish my engine looked this good.

Here is the brochure.

This is nice, but I think there are better ways to spend $350K. Plus, replica will never be collectable and will have drastic depreciation.

On depreciation there is a market for these reproductions and the good ones actually hold a pretty high price due to their rarity. This isn't a kit car, it is a ground up reproduction true to the original. You do have to find the right buyer. Granted one of the two real ones would be in the millions. But in the end you have a car that is counted in the 10s. Think of it more like rolling art.

Hi Rob,
I have seen pictures of this car many times, and what can you say, it's gorgeous. I'm with you. It's all of Jaguar heritage rolled into one, and emphasizes to a greater degree why many consider the X100 to be a more classic (and more beautiful) body style than the X150 that replaced it. I own both and feel that way. While it may not be F-type modern, it sure is spectacular! How's the new house?

I can definitely see the attraction, there are some bits I love, but the overall effect feels a bit confused to me it has some bits that feel classic, some bits that feel modern and some bits that feel that awkward 80's in between period and the final result has a bit is an air of stylish confusion. I would like looking at one, I would like to have a drive of one but if I was going to spend that kind of money I would spend it on something else.

LOL..I was here when they did the photoshoot for the XK180. Sadly its no longer here at our office as it was shipped back to JLR HQ 2 months ago. It sat in our lobby for a few years. It was started about once a month and it being a prototype, no cats so you can imagine the exhaust smell.

Does nothing for me, looks like something my kid would design, or a bad kit car. Guess I'm jaded.

who in their right mind would want the old 4.0l and the J gate shifter with a what 4 or maybe 5 speed slush box automatic without paddles???? Without the possibility of manual up or downshift the driving experience would be a complete downer ...
