HELP - 2021 P300 owner test drove a 2024 450 yesterday -

I was going to say, with the '23s and '24s the only difference between the R and the P450 is the engine output, which can readily be resolved with a tune. Only you can decide your level of concern with that (and remember, the P450 engine *is* the R engine--just detuned--so a tune really restores it to its intended design and all the mechanical bits are designed for the higher output). All the other options are available on either the R or the P450, which wasn't always the case in past years. Also, there are a lot fewer options on the '24s because of chip and dwindling stock concerns so shopping for leftover '23s should give you a wider color palette and more options (there were quite a few '23s optioned with SVO colors before they shut that down).

The only time fuse 15 will be replaced in my P450 is when the vehicle goes to the dealer for service or warranty work and maybe if I ever sell it (which is doubtful.)

Background:
April, 2023
Drove a 2018 S model V-6 AWD 340 hp last year and fell in love
18,000 miles on the clock
Great handling, powerful and sounded great
Drove a 2016 S model V6 380 hp at Carmax, was less than impressed, didn't feel as good as the 2018
Same day, on a whim, went to the Jag dealer and test drove a 2021 2.liter 4 pot, first edition with very low expectations.
Was totally surprised and impressed with the overall feel and performance, but that car was the wrong color.
Flew to Baltimore and bought a 2021 2 liter First Edition with 6,000 miles on the clock
Added the Ragazzon exhaust and am quite happy with this car. It's my daily driver.
Recently tossed the Pirellis and got the Michelins
Somehow a random ad shows up on my laptop for a red 450 with 500 miles on it at my JLR dealer.
So, what the hell, went down to look at it. Firenze red with tan interior.
This is a RWD model - my preference for Florida, especially with no maintenance required for the transfer case and front axels
The car is outstanding - BEAUTIFUL.
When they rolled her out my heart bounced and I thought, OH SHIP, I'm gonna trade in my Beautiful white 300
This one was owned by an old guy who had difficulty getting in and out.
Took it for a test drive - wow, compared to the P300, the low end torque is remarkable.
The car felt markedly heavier in the front, and that combined with the dynamic suspension made it feel better on the road.
High marks for the above.
Same size tires/wheels as my P300
Two items surprised me, and I'm seeking opinions here
1. despite the much higher torque, the P300 is very spritely to drive, especially in Dynamic S mode, keeping the RPM range up a bit. The big 450 V-* while more powerful was not as big a difference as I anticipated.
2. The sound. What a surprising disappointment - NOT KIDDING !
This car had far less road noise - maybe the factory adds more sound insulation to these than the P300, or it's the 2024 year model?
Now the biggest surprise - FAR LESS EXHAUST FUN, THAN THE P300 with the Ragazzon exhaust.
At idle, the 450 wins the sound contest, hands down, however when driving around for fun, my P300 has far more pops/bangs/exhaust fun than this particular 450 V-8 did
To be fair, I put the 450 in "S" mode, little difference.
The salesperson told me the reason the 450 didnt sound as good was that the owner who drove it the first 500 miles likely babied it, and that the more I drove it the way I did, the car would adjust, and the exhaust notes would appear.
Please, PLEASE tell me the truth to this comment.
I walked into that dealership thinking I might seriously do a trade, but I walked out loving my P300 even more.
Is the sound/car learning driving style real?
Please share your comments.
BEST !

Firense Red with cream interior
450 Dynamic
450 miles on the clock
I didn't do a real test drive, just was heavy traffic.
My bad
Currently under consideration:
2023 450 Dynamic AWD loaded as mine is 8500 on the clock but no CPO warranty upgrade
2024 450 Dynamic new (several in process)
and maybe an R but we're likely too far apart on that one

Moving forward with the 2023 AWD, 8,500 mile choice, .vs a new 450 2WD
This car is heavily optioned, as was the P300 First Edition, even has 770 watt surround system and windshield defrosters.
Same Fuji White as the current 2021 P300, but has oyster white seat surfaces
Gonna keep my current wheels and tires.
40 months of warranty remain, maybe a light tune is in my future?
THANKS AGAIN TO ALL WHO HELPED HERE IN THE FORUM.

I went from a 2018 base couple with340 hp, which I loved by the way, to my current 2022 base couple P450 and the performance level increased substantially. The only disappointment in upgrading was the lack of crackles and pops from the exhaust...which was completely solved by the removal of Fuse 15. It's insane the difference it made and I was definitely a skeptic when I read the suggestions on here for removing that fuse.
I can now play my exhaust system like an instrument by controlling RPMs and feathering of the accelerator. It's awesome!

Good news.
wonder if that works on a 2018 R Dynamic?

I just removed fuse 15 on my 21 R the other day, and it definitely opens it up. It’s not a crazy “brand new car” difference, but it dials things up considerably, especially when it comes to the crackles. The crackles and pops aren’t and will never be as consistent and controllable as the older f types but it’s much much better. Haven’t had any issue with droning either.

2024 P450 owner in Canada here. Been driving her since March since spring came early. Been driving every weekend for long drives to break the car in, 2,700km so on the clock.
Stock
- Cold start is normal mode is has a nice grunt but not wake up your neighbours loud
- In normal mode the car is pretty chill, some minor quiet burbles. If I remember car opens up a little around 3500rpm but I couldn't push it too much since I was break it in.
- Sport mode (pulling the shifter to the side) the car has louder burbles and pops, but again you have to wait around 3500rpm to hear more
- never put it in dynamic mode before taking out the fuse so I don't know how much it affects it
With Fuse 15 out
- Cold start is loud as ****, shakes the house and the dog starts barking, wife feels and hears it from 2 floors above the garage. Uncomfortable on the ears if you stand anywhere around the rear of the car, if the wife is waiting for me to the pull the car out from the garage she stands around the corner of the house so her ears don't get blasted.
- In normal mode the car burbles and pops all the time. Accelerate to between 2500-3000 and let off the gas, you don't have to punch it. I can consistently casually accelerate from ~2200rpm to 2500-3000rpms and get pops and burbles
- Sport mode, accelerate and let off the gas. You should hear pops and bangs once you let off the gas and the rpms start to drop.
- Dynamic mode (all custom setting in dynamic) holds onto the rpms too much so it didn't pop as much as in Sport mode but I have to test this more. I don't think it dumps fuel for the pops if it holds the rpms. The upshifts are orgasmic.
- the car doesn't drone with fuse 15 out and the car in normal mode
All in all I'm extremely happy with the sound once fuse 15 was pulled out. I would recommend taking out the fuse, then playing with the modes and lifting off the gas at different rpms. I can get pretty consistent crackle and pops without trying. I also have a Veloster N (my fun go cart) which has an exhaust that behaves like older F-Types, tap tap tap to pop pop pop but to be honest it gets old quick for both you and the people around you. Nothing really puts a smile on my face as much as the F-Type exhaust upfarts, pops, and v8 burbles. I catch myself laughing maniacally at the sound it makes during and after an acceleration.
