Default Help with aftermarket wheel search

Hello Forum Members,

I am requesting some help in getting the {my idea of} “perfect” aftermarket wheels for my F-Type. I am not an expert on the science of tire/wheel sizing and effects they have on the car, so please understand this when reading/replying. Thanks in advance.

If providing help, please consider my criteria (in order of importance):

1) Aesthetics

I have an idea of how I want my car to look and this, above all, is important to me. I would like a matte black, spoked, concave look with an even number of spokes. I would also like to fill the wheel well more.

2) Cost

I can afford any wheel if they are perfect, but of course, would enjoy finding a cheaper alternative if they met the “Aesthetics” criteria

3) Performance (Weight)

I know this may seem odd to some members, but my F-Type is fast enough and performs well enough for me with stock wheels. It also seems (please correct me if I am wrong) that the black 20” tornado wheel is pretty heavy, and that most of the aftermarket wheels will be roughly the same or lighter and thus perform as well or better than stock wheels.

Questions I have that aren’t apparent by internet/forum searches.

1) Is it possible to “fill” more of the wheel well without “lowering” the vehicle? (I know that tire size can change this, but has anyone done that? And what would be the concern of doing this?)

2) Is it possible to change to 19” wheels (since some wheels that look great don’t come in 20” size)

3) Are there other members who are running “non-stock” size wheels that can post pics?

FERRADA | FR4 | Ferrada Wheels

I thought these came in 5 x 108 but that size is not listed. You may want to check as the FR1s do come in our bolt pattern.

HCS04 | BC Forged North America

These are forged (lighter, higher cost), but more refined.

Not sure if these (above) appeal to you.

I can for sure tell you that the entire line of Ferrada wheels comes in a 5x108.
It may not be on their website, but a call/email to them and you will see.

I ran FR1's in 20x9 front and 20x10.5 rear, then FR1's in 20x11 front and 20x12 rear and am currently running their FR5 Forged wheel in 10.5 front and 12 rear.

They have a few F-Types under their belt and will nail the offset.

As for filling the wheel gap, you need to either go 21" or go with a meaty sidewall to achieve this.

Alternatively, VAP makes a good lowering spring with a moderate drop (1.2") which will achieve the fuller look without any rubbing issues even with aggressive sizes and offsets.

I don't feel like digging for pictures, but my instagram has pictures of all 3 of the set ups on my car.

Pretty sure it's the H&R springs that are a 1.2" drop and the VAP springs are 7/8" drop.

He is. The H&Rs are actually a nominal 1.3" , but mine settled in at 1.25" in front and 1.5" in back.

Cool, checked them out in IG ... I had already been eye-balling the Ferrada FR4's

So, could you run a 255/40 on the front like this?

Because I love the way this wheel and tire combo fill the wells of this "other" cat

So, finding these on Ebay for this price seems like a great thing... no?

Most forged will be custom drilled to bolt pattern and offset.

You may like these, non forged: I like the simple clean thinner spoke look.

Thanks again! Yeah, that in matte black is the look for me ("symmetry" OCD kicking in, I want there to be an even number of those thin/clean spokes, so that 10 spoke model is appealing, was also looking for an 8 spoke model of some sort). I had seen the Rohana in pics, but hadn't seen any pricing anywhere, so I guess I will contact them.

I'm not too sure, call the guys at Ferrada and they may be able to help you out.
Sadly, I lowered mine before we ever got the wheels so there was no stock test fit.

If you get them on ebay, make sure you get the right bolt pattern and offset.
New a set of FR4's will run about 2K so unless it's a killer deal, I would just get a new set.
