Default Hi All! New owner of 2016 F-Type R

Hi there, thought i would introduce myself. My name is Mike. Over this past weekend I flew out to Oklahoma City and bought a 2016 F-Type R. Italian Racing Red, pretty well loaded including Ceramic Composite brakes. Monroney sticker attached (from 2016). Averaged over 26 mpg from OKC to Indy, which is better than the sticker - is that normal, or is the dash report wrong, or ???

It has a couple issues, worst is the PO installed some stupid short springs and the tires crash in to the wheel wells on any significant bump. I have KW H.A.S. springs on the way to fix that. The blindspot mirrors are not working right - the driver side works but something is wrong on the passenger side, so after 10 minutes they lock themselves out with an error message. The dealer had put a sticker on that side of the bumper which I removed and I think that helped things, but it's not fully operational. Other issue is the navigation has me in the middle of the ocean off of Florida - I don't know what's up with that, but I have ordered a UAD CarPlay upgrade anyway and use Waze on my phone now.

No other issues I am aware of right now (other than the disappointing Meridian sound system that "has no issue"), and I have a bumper to bumper warranty that should cover any issues for the next 6 years.

I plan to do the crank pulley upgrade and VAP tune, contemplating the VAP transmission tune. LED headlights are on order, and bought a net for the trunk.

Owned 2 Audi TT's for over 18 years, so it's nice to have something significantly newer. The ride is SO much nicer in the F-Type, I am eager to get it on the track to see how it does "under pressure".

Welcome! Love the Italian Racing Red also. In fact I have a 16 conv and a 17 coupe in that color. Lots of good info on here and people willing to help. Look around and don't be afraid to ask questions.

I see you also have a Suedecloth interior. I can't tell you exactly how rare those are, but you won't find very many out there. Congrats on the new purchase!

Re the fuel economy lots of reports that the on board readout is very optimistic at least 3 or 4 mpg higher than true.

Yeah funny isn't it, always reading high for estimated mileage. I mean, if it was defective parts or coding mistakes, half the time they should read high, and half the time they should read low, but they always seem to be on the high side. Wonder why that is...

I got lucky on the car. The selling dealer didn't list anything and didn't even know it had CC brakes. I think most of the options boxes are ticked on the car. I like the "suedecloth" as well, it's in the center section of the seats too, so will keep from sliding around on the track like leather does.

Just curious….is there a web site where you can enter the VIN and have that label you posted replicated and available for printing?
I’m a recent 2015 F type S vert owner, bought in Vancouver BC, and would like to get that printout for my Jaguar file.
Thx.

According to the on dash display, I get 28 mpg in my R with the cruise control set at about 80 mph on I-5. Realistically, it's closer to 25-26, but still much better than I thought it would be.

If you have a relationship with your Jaguar delaer you can get from them the "Dealer Direct Warranty" file on your car - it lists EVERYTHING related to your car, all options fitted, specific body/engine/transmission/differential numbers etc...but the relationship is the key.

that’s what I did, the link is at the bottom of my printout. Just input your VIN, pay $10, and it emails you the info.

monroneylabels.com

I believe that this works only for US market cars, not Canadian market cars, whose VIN would not be recognized.

You are correct, Monroney is a US-only "feature". Required for all new cars being sold in the US.

I was surprised at how many MPG I was getting.

Driving around town and still get this kind of MPG from a performance V8 engine is not what I expected when I bought my F-Type. But I will take these numbers all day. I’m expecting even better highway MPG when I drive her down to Florida 30A in November.

This was shocking for a supercharged V8.

I've hit over 30 on freeway only driving... It's better than my F-150 "Eco"Boost!

I’ve easily run at 30mpg from central PA to Cape Cod, MA many times (over 20 trips) with the reading showing 31-32 on the dash. Knowing it a couple of MPG optimistic, I can definitely live with that and was pleasantly surprised and still am 7 years later. Now when put it in dynamic and sport…..well that’s a whole different kettle of fish. But that’s ok too.
