high-pressure fuel pump

high-pressure fuel pump
I have a 2014 F Type base model with 15,000 miles on it. I took it in for servicing recently and was told there are some stored codes showing that the high-pressure fuel pump is going out, although I never got a check engine light. Upon further questioning I was told that this signal has to occur 3 consecutive times in three cycles to trigger a check engine light. It was further explained that even if the signal occurred three times but over four cycles, the check engine light would not be triggered.
The service provider wanted to replace it, but since it hasn't triggered a check engine light, does it really need to be replaced at this time?

These motors have 2 HPFP, one for each bank of cylinders. If it’s working and not throwing a CEL, I’m surprised that they recommend replacement. Are you out of warranty on your 2014?
I had both pumps replaced recently under warranty, although for a totally different reason.
